Pete Wicks admits he’s finally done with dating shows – and reason is surprising

Pete Wicks has decided he’s had enough of all the dating show malarkey.

The reality TV tar has shown off his romances on the likes of TOWIE and also starred on Celebs Go Dating a whopping three times. But he’s done with all of the now…

Pete, 36, spoke exclusively to the Daily Star as he promoted Philips One Blade’s new campaign. We asked him if he’d like to join his ex co-star Joey Essex in the pursuit of the perfect match on Love Island.

He said: “I don’t watch Love Island so I could never see myself going in personally. Sam on the other hand, is the complete opposite to me and a huge super fan so he’s always trying to get me to watch.”

When asked if he’d be up for any other dating shows, he said: “No, I think I’ve done them all now, they were fun at the time but I’m focusing on other exciting projects I’ve got coming up this year, I’m also way too old!”

Over the past few years Pete and best pal Sam Thompson have become a great double-act and fans are eager to see them on our screens again. But is there scope for their own show in the future?

“We’d love to have our own show, we previously hosted Reality News together which was a lot of fun, and we’ve just been on tour hosting our podcast, Staying Relevant. We haven’t killed each other yet so we must be doing something right,” he added.

Although he’s hung up his dating show boots, Pete is still keen to dabble in some other types of programmes. Pete told us: “Although I have two left feet I would love to give Strictly a go. I watched Zara [McDermott] on it last year and she did so well. The jungle would be the other, I loved being out there last year behind the scenes.”

The TOWIE star has recently teamed up with Philips OneBlade, along with his Staying Relevant podcast host Sam, on the brand’s ‘Hairy Harvest’ campaign.

Philips wanted to let fans know a fun fact that their discarded hair can also be used as fertiliser for growing your own fruit and veg. Talking about the collab, Pete said: “It’s been a lot of fun working with Philips OneBlade on their ‘Hairy Harvest’ pop-up and makes perfect sense given how much pride I put into my hair and beard. I hadn’t heard of using body hair as fertiliser until we did the event, but now I think everybody should give it a try.”
