Playboy Bunny says drinking ‘was only way to cope with orgies’ as she exposes ‘reality’

Hugh Hefner’s former girlfriend Holly Madison has told how she would drink herself into oblivion in order to cope with taking part in orgies.

She claimed that substance abuse is part of the driving force behind the so-called “Playboy Curse” in a new interview with former Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik.

“There’s a higher rate of suicides and drug overdoses amongst Playmates than the general population,” she claimed, and put that down to the “high stakes environment” that they live in.

Holly explores the “high stakes environment” in her new TV show, The Playboy Murders, a true crime series focused on victims – and sometimes perpetrators – with a connection to Hefner’s soft porn empire.

The current series looks at former Playboy cover model Sandy Bentley, whose relationship with Hefner ended up affecting the way the publisher treated all of his “girlfriends” afterward. Sandy and her twin sister, Mandy both lived in the Playboy Mansion with Hefner after his divorce from another former Playmate, Kimberly Conrad.

But when Sandy tried to secretly sell valuable jewellery given to her by high-rolling con man Mark Yagalla, she was set on a path that led to murder. Her new boyfriend Michael Tardio and another man were found shot dead in a luxury car in the Hollywood Hills. The murders remain unsolved and the jewels have never been found.

Holly, who says she remembers hearing gossip about the murders during her time at the Playboy Mansion, says that the kind of person that ends up modelling for Playboy will often be attracted to a risky lifestyle.

“It can just lead to more extreme lifestyle choices,” Holly said. “There’s several high-profile cases and several that weren’t really talked about that we cover in the show.”

Holly went on to say that she would always make sure she was drunk before taking part in Hefner’s infamous group sex sessions, adding: “I used to drink a lot. We would go out at least twice a week and those were always the nights that all of us would have to go up into the bedroom

“I would drink so much when we went out just because I found that situation so embarrassing and humiliating – you’re around all these other women doing the most intimate things.

“They’d be talking s*** and making fun of you, right then and there, so I would always drink to like the point of oblivion… it was an absolute nightmare.”

In 2008, Hefner said, ‘I love Holly very much and I think we’re going to be together the rest of my life, but marriage isn’t part of my puzzle’

Holly’s other TV show, Lethally Blonde, covers similar ground to The Playboy Murders, but covers the stories of victims and killers that aren’t directly related to the Playboy empire.

In the series, airing on Discovery, Holly investigates the wild life and mysterious death of Penthouse Pet of the Year Anneka Di Lorenzo, and OnlyFans star Courtney Tailor, who is currently awaiting trial after being charged with murder.

All of these cases share a connection to that “high stakes” world, she said. “It’s an environment where there’s a lot to be gained by doing certain things – and a lot on the line.”
