Selling Sunset babe set to join Neighbours cast as Netflix star makes career U-turn

A legend from Netflix’s Selling Sunset is about to join the cast of Neighbours.

Chrishell Stause is confirmed to be making an appearance on the show as she signs up to become a cast member for the rebooted Aussie soap. The estate agent is now set to add another string to her bow as she joins the programme in a huge shake-up of the show’s stars.

She is set to take on the role of Yasmine Shields on the show, which is now streaming on Amazon ‘s service Freevee. On the show, Yasmine is said to be a successful businesswoman from the States who is looking to find her next big break.

Her first scenes have already been filmed, according to bosses, and snaps from her opening scenes in the show are already leaving fans asking questions. In one pic, Yasmine is seen chatting with Paul, played by soap stalwart Stefan Dennis.

Speaking about her new acting role – where she will debut on November 28, Chrishell said that she was ready to take the challenge on. “Coming from the world of soaps in the US, it’s back to my first love in the entertainment industry,” she explained.

“They pitched me an idea for a character, and I was excited to figure out a way to make it happen,” Chrishell added. It comes as other legendary actors who made their names on the soap bid the show farewell.

One of the longest-serving actors in the show, Lucinda Cowden confirmed last month that she was leaving Ramsay Street for good after bosses at the show wrote her out. Speaking on the NeighBens Youtube channel, the actress said that she was not the one to make the final call.

“I’m unemployed,” she insisted, “I’m off – it’s true; sorry.” She added: “I can’t do anything about it, it wasn’t my decision. Mel’s off in her truck and doesn’t have any plans to return, immediately.”

Taking on the role of Melanie Pearson, viewers have watched her grow up on set, but after nearly four decades on the programme, Mel bids farewell to Erinsborough and has no plans on returning any time soon. Lucinda said that she was stunned however, when she learned of her co-star’s departure at the same time.

“So I rang Ryan [Maloney, who plays Toadie on the soap] to say, ‘Sorry babe, I’m off’ and got the shock of my life when he said, ‘Me too!'” she recalled. “You know, you could’ve blown me over with a feather.”

Writers are busy maintaining the series after it was revived in 2022, following its supposed final episode. Since then, the show has been snapped up by Amazon, and storylines have jumped two years into the future, finally hitting our screens once again in 2023.

Viewers have since followed the soap, which initially aired in the UK on Channel 5. However, with a number of new characters joining the show, it is clear there is a new set of storylines that are being built up for fans in the coming months.
