Is it time for Strictly Come Dancing to pull the curtain? According to an expert, it certainly is.
In 2004, the celebrity dancing content graced screens on the BBC and has been a fan favourite ever since. However, in recent months more and more claims and chaos has surrounded the show.
From abuse allegations to more and more cast breakups, the show has been coined with a lot of drama. So, we asked some experts whether they think it’s time for the show to stop.

Brand and PR expert Rochelle White said: “Like most shows and things, I feel that it’s run its course. The show has been seeing declining viewing numbers over the past few years.
“Although viewers love a scandal and that it tends to have an impact on more people tuning in/ watching again, it isn’t enough or something that is long standing and actually viabale for long term growth. I feel the show should end and potentially come back for Christmas specials, which I think could and would work better.
“Yes, the show has been relatively safe over the years, but once a few people start talking and sharing their experiences it makes more people feel comfortable about opening up. I don’t think many are surprised when things come out, but also I think that when this starts to happen, it is usually a sign of the downfall of a show/ brand.
“The brand reputation starts to be a bit damaged or associated with people and things it no doubt would rather avoid. I think for the BBC and for brand reputation, it’s time to bow out and take a break.”
However, another expert claimed it’s still got more in the tank despite all of the recent controversy.
Ed Hopkins Celebrity PR expert said: “Personally, I don’t think the show should end. strictly -come-dancing>Strictly Come Dancing has always been a fantastic family show that brings joy and entertainment to millions of viewers across the UK and beyond. Its blend of fabulous performances, heartwarming stories, and the celebration of diverse talent makes it a unique and cherished part of our cultural landscape.
“While it’s true that recent scandals, such as issues surrounding the so-called “Strictly curse” and some high-profile break-ups, have cast a shadow, these incidents shouldn’t define the entire show. Every long-running series faces its share of challenges and controversies, but Strictly’s core values – promoting dance, bringing people together, and offering a platform for both celebrities and professional dancers to shine – remain unblemished and profoundly positive.
“Instead of ending, I believe the show is already taking this opportunity to address these issues head-on. Implementing stricter codes of conduct and providing more support for contestants and dancers which will help mitigate future problems. Furthermore, acknowledging and learning from these challenges can lead to a stronger, more resilient show. The overwhelming joy and excitement that Strictly brings to its audience, the inspiration it provides to aspiring dancers, and its role in fostering a love for dance across generations are too valuable to lose.”
