Amanda Abbington has reportedly limited who can comment on her Instagram amid her Strictly and Giovanni Pernice drama.
The actress was a contestant on the last series of the BBC show and was paired with pro Giovanni, but quit suddenly in October citing “personal reasons”. There have been rumours that there was tension off camera and last week The Sun reported that Amanda has allegedly asked to review the behind the scenes recordings of their training sessions.
The publication has now said that there were “abusive” messages towards Amanda following the story. So she has apparently made some changes to her Instagram, meaning she can filter out negative comments.

The Sherlock star shared a handful of posts last week, with one a picture of herself and the majority of the others of her dogs. A note on the bottom of her snaps now reads: “Comments on this post have been limited.”
The report about the footage request emerged last week, with The Sun quoting a source as saying: “The BBC have received a request for the footage they hold of Amanda and Giovanni. It is known as a data subject access request.
“There is a feeling that the recordings will lift the lid on what really goes on behind the scenes on Strictly. Things in rehearsals can become very tense.”
The BBC has said in a statement that it “offers a comprehensive range of support to all individuals taking part in our shows”. “ Strictly Come Dancing has always taken duty of care incredibly seriously and there is a constant dialogue between senior members of the production team and the contestants to ensure any concerns are addressed swiftly,” the corporation said.
“Strictly has a proud track record as a joyful, positive experience where robust support and assistance is always made available at every stage of the production.”

Amanda left Strictly in October, saying on Instagram at the time: “It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue. It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.
“I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. It’s a wonderful bunch of people and I’ll miss all of them. I’m so sad that I am unable to go any further.” Daily Star has reached out to representatives of Amanda and Giovanni for comment.
