Taylor Swift forcing artists to delay releases as there aren’t enough vinyl factories

Taylor Swift is forcing artists to delay the release of their music because there aren’t enough vinyl factories to keep up with demand, Fran Healy has claimed.

The lead singer of Scottish band Travis, said it was ‘kind of humiliating’ that other musicians were having to wait.

And Chris Difford, co-founder of Squeeze, revealed it would be another year until they could release their new album because there simply wasn’t enough capacity in vinyl factories.

Healy, who has won three BRIT awards with Travis, described Swift as ‘the elephant in the room’ and encouraged her to buy her own record-producing factories so that other artists weren’t affected by her mega stardom.

He told the I Never Thought It Would Happen podcast: “In one sense an artist like Taylor Swift is keeping the money running around the industry and allowing the industry to sign new artists and blah blah blah.

“So, Taylor, why don’t you – to save us all this kind of humiliating thing – she’s got all this money, why doesn’t she buy a few record making plants and create her own?

“Because in a sense Taylor Swift, all the big mega stars, they’re almost like the Walmart and the Amazon. They’re like the giants – they’re sucking all of the resources towards them.

“I don’t think anyone’s said to her ‘hey, this is happening’: maybe I should write a letter to her.”

The 50-year-old’s comments came after Chris Difford, who hosts the podcast, confessed that Squeeze’s latest album was being delayed by the demand of Swifties sweeping through the industry.

He said: “We have a record deal but we can’t bring the album out until the vinyl factories have got space to print because of Taylor Swift. We’ve got to wait a year before we can put our album out.”

Swift’s The Eras Tour is the highest-grossing tour in history and is the first to generate more than $1billion in revenue.

Her 11th studio album – The Tortured Poets Department – was released in May and reached no.1 in more than 20 countries: selling 2.6million copies in its first week.
