Fans of The Chase didn’t take too kindly to a contestant’s comments after they said Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace wasn’t on “top form”.
During Monday’s show (May 20), presenter Bradley Walsh was back with a brand new set of players who were hoping to win big. Chaser Shaun was also ready to make sure the team left with nothing.
But with player number one Sharlene bringing back £5,000, player four John was quick to encourage his fellow teammates to go high because Shaun “wasn’t on form”.

However, John’s words came back to bite him, as the chaser was able to send players Clive and Anjelica home. Seeing John’s brash comments, fans headed over to X to share their disappointment.
One viewer wrote: “Why would you ever say a Chaser isn’t on good form? Even on a bad day they know so much more than you and you likely won’t win. Don’t be a D*ck.”
Another fan wrote: “Everyone commenting on Shaun’s form then being all [shocked face emoji] when he throws the shade back!? You’re literally insulting him at his place of work.”
A third added: “Given that he’s caught two of them, and the remaining pair have set a target of twelve, just as well Shaun’s *not* on form today.” The same viewer also joked: “It doesn’t really matter *what* form Shaun is on, until and when he has one of his meltdowns chasing a target of about thirteen …”
Later on in the programme, John who encouraged others to go high ended up taking the offer he earnt which was a repectable £7,000. With only two players left in the final, Sharlene and John had their work cut out for them but they were confident they could still beat Shaun.
Unfortunately, the pair had a rather shaky round and only managed to answer 12 questions correctly. But fans at home were left furious once again as they claimed that John and Sharlene passed too many questions instead of taking a wild guess.
One viewer exclaimed: “Stop f*****g passing. Ffs!!!” While another said: “A question on #thechase asking IN WHAT CENTURY something happened, but the they passed. How can you not just GUESS a question like that???”
