This Morning viewers ‘concerned’ as guest appears to fall asleep live on air

This Morning fans became distracted and concerned when the driver of a car used for a bit seemingly did not move an inch.

The ITV show once again returned to our screens on Tuesday (May 14), with Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard behind the wheel. Viewers were given a glimpse of what was to come during the show thanks to a preview in the opening credits.

However, fans were shocked when the feed cut to the studio, revealing the outside doors to the studio were open with a white car parked. With the camera dipping to black-and-white, the fancy old-fashioned motor slowly stuttered its way into the studio, with Cat and Ben in the back seat.

As the duo made their way into the TV show to kick Tuesday’s edition of the programme off, they were driven in to the soundtrack of Downton Abbey. It came following the announcement a third film was in the works, leaving fans stunned and excited to see what the traditionally upper-class family are getting up to.

Ben and Cat thanked the driver, Kay, for his skills before getting out of the car launching into the show with a traditional posh accent. This, however was quickly disposed of and the pair continued to carry on with the rest of the show.

However, whilst the pair went on to speak to Lady Carnarvon, who owns the Highclere Estate – where Downton Abbey is filmed, fans soon noticed that the driver of the car had still not left the studio. He also was spotted several times in the background of the interview with historian Kate Williams.

Fans were concerned that the driver was not okay as he had not shown any sign of life after driving the car into the studio

Whilst chatting with Ben and Cat, behind Kate – the driver could still be seen sat at the driver’s seat of the car, sat still and unable to move. This prompted many viewers to ask whether the driver was okay or did he require some help.

One concerned fan took to social media to pen: “I do wonder if that guy in the car is okay, lol”. Whilst a second fan added: “Is the bloke in that car asleep? Or is he just a dummy and the car was brought in via remote control – he doesn’t seem to have moved an inch!!!”

Thankfully, Kay was okay and was still alive

Thankfully, fans were giving some peace of mind, when the cameras once again cut to the driver following the interviews. To give viewers peace of mind, he was seen moving his head just as a way to reassure the public that all was safe and well.

This Morning airs every weekday at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX
