Tom Cruise hangs upside-down from plane as he does own Mission Impossible stunts

Tom Cruise was spotted hanging from an upside-down plane as he filmed thrilling scenes for the upcoming Mission Impossible movie.

The 62-year-old Hollywood A-lister seemed to be without a parachute as he clung onto the aircraft during the adrenaline-pumping stunt.

Photos captured the hair-raising moment when the bright yellow propeller plane rotated, leaving Tom gripping the wing. The crew of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning watched on as the Stearman biplane flew perilously close to the camera crew’s helicopter during the frightening shoot in Oxfordshire.

Tom was accompanied by the film’s villain Gabriel, portrayed by actor Esai Morales, and of course, the daredevil pilot. It is speculated that the pilot will be digitally erased from the scene in post-production as images show them dressed entirely in green.

An insider revealed: “When the plane flips upside down, Cruise – who did not appear to be wearing a parachute – is left hanging off it. The characters seemed to be filming a fight scene where they wrestle with each other before the plane flips over. The pilot was dressed all in green, suggesting he will be removed from the scene and Cruise and Morales will be the only ones in the plane.”

This daring stunt follows Tom revealing a painful injury after his weekend festivities at Glastonbury earlier this month. Despite his hectic schedule, he managed to squeeze in a visit to Worthy Farm where he was seen among a host of other A-List celebrities.

It seems the star sustained an injury upon his arrival in London a few weeks ago. He was spotted in high spirits as he touched down at a Battersea helipad.

Tom sported a black long-sleeved jumper and blue jeans, accessorised with aviator-style sunglasses. At one point, he even gave photographers a thumbs-up from the front seat of the helicopter. A close-up image obtained by Metro revealed a pink graze around his right knuckle, suggesting an injury.

The actor is well-known for his hands-on approach on set, often performing his own stunts. He’s expected to take on underwater scenes for the upcoming film. The majority of the movie has been filmed in the UK, primarily at Surrey’s Longcross Studios.

Tom first brought Mission: Impossible, a popular TV series from the 1960s, to the big screen in 1996. The latest instalment, Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One, released last summer, featured a submarine that gets blown up and sinks.

The forthcoming sequel will revisit the submarine a decade later.
