Train star Charlie Colin tragically dies aged 58 after ‘falling in shower’

Charlie Colin has died aged 58 in a tragic accident.

The former bass player of the rock pop band was one of the founding members of the nineties group. According to TMZ, the musician’s mother said he passed away after slipping and falling over in the shower.

Colin had been house-sitting for a friend in Brussels, Belgium, at the time of the fatal incident. It’s currently unknown when he died but Colin had relocated to Brussels and was teaching a music master class and working on a film soundtrack.

Charlie formed the San Francisco band in 1993 alongside fellow members Pat Monahan, Rob Hotchkiss, Scott Underwood and Jimmy Stafford. The band picked up two Grammy Awards in 2002 for Drops of Jupiter.

He left the band, perhaps best known for their hit Hey, Soul Sister in 2003. He was allegedly axed from the group after being given an ultimatum following his struggle with substance abuse.

Colin previously told the Los Angeles Times about his struggles with the band, who just released their new single, Long Yellow Dress. He said: “I had a really great run, but it was difficult,”.

Lead singer Pat Monahan said at the time: “Charlie is one incredible bass player, but he was in a lot of pain, and the way he was dealing with it was very painful for everyone else around him.”

Train are still active today and have sold over 10 million albums and 30 million tracks worldwide. Their most recent album was titled AM Gold and came out in May of 2022.
