Two big music legends were offered the chance to sing at Eurovision – but dropped out.
The Eurovision Song Contest is known for its saucy dance routines, powerful ballads and its controversies galore once the voting begins. But in 2021, fans got a taste of Hollywood as rapper Flo Rida competed in the Contest.
Viewers and fans alike were left stunned as the Low singer opted to fly out to the Netherlands to represent the nation at the biggest music event in the world. However, some other music stars were also in line to sing for San Marino.

Speaking to the Daily Star, singer Senhit, who preformed alongside Flo Rida, revealed that two other huge music legends had been contacted to feature on the song, which would mean they would sing at Eurovision. The track was offered to the two rap icons, but both decided to drop out, leaving Flo Rida as the next in line.
Senhit, who is hosting Eurovision on Tour – a non-competitive event starring some of the artists of Eurovisions gone by – explained that she had been due to compete in 2020, but COVID caused the show to be cancelled. However, this gave her an opportunity to create a new song fit for the Contest.
“We started to write songs and finally we built our track, but in the beginning it was a hit song – only for summer, not for Eurovision,” she explained. “But my team pushed me so bad to tell me this was good for Eurovision, so I said, ‘Okay, let’s use it.'”
After finishing off the song, Senhit recalled how her manager said something was missing in the track and suggested a well-known rapper write a verse for the song. She then sent the song to the US, where several huge artists were offered a chance to write something to fit the song.
“I sent the song to America, through a guy that we know, and he showed the song to Pitbull first,” she exclaimed. “He said, ‘No thank you very much, I don’t like the song,’ and I was like: ‘What?! Okay, f**k you’.”
The song was then passed onto Jamaican rapper Sean Paul, to see if he was interested in the song, but Senhit ran into similar issues. However, due to scheduling conflicts, Sean had to drop out – leaving Flo Rida, who took interest in the song.
“Flo Rida said, ‘Listen, this song is a bop; let me do something with it.’ He sent lyrics for his part of the song over to us and we loved it, so we recorded the song.”
In 2021, however, COVID continued to have a huge effect on the Contest, and Senhit admitted they were not sure Flo Rida would even be able to perform in Rotterdam. However, things all changed when one day before their performance he arrived in the Netherlands.
“This was the first time I had met Flo Rida, after a year of conversations, Zooms and chats,” she said. “It was a beautiful, I met this guy who I knew was this big superstar and I saw this amazing human being who was super sweet and super cool.”
Senhit and Flo Rida eventually finished in 20th place in the competition, despite being huge fan favourites. However, their connection has maintained and Senhit revealed she is still in contact with Flo Rida to this day.
