Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 return ‘confirmed’ as fans left concerned by her absence

Zoe Ball is set to make her much-anticipated comeback to BBC Radio 2 after a puzzling absence that left fans scratching their heads.

The beloved 53-year-old presenter has been off-air for the past five weeks, sparking concern and curiosity among her loyal listeners. But it seems she’ll be gracing the airwaves again in the not-too-distant future.

Zoe took a step back from the mic in August following a brief hiatus to commemorate her late mother’s birthday. Her mum sadly passed away in April, a mere 12 weeks after a cancer diagnosis.

Zoe was expected to return on August 5, but instead, other presenters filled in for her.

In a heartfelt social media post after her mother’s death, Zoe paid homage with touching words: “Thank you for teaching us how to love unconditionally, to always show courage and empathy, and how, even in the darkest of days, laughter is the greatest of gifts. We are bereft without you but will hold so tight to each other. Your grace and your smile that lit up every room you were in, will light the stars to guide us,” reports the Mirror.

The BBC’s online schedule has now dropped a hint about her return, indicating that Zoe will be back at the helm for the Maximum Music Monday show on Monday, September 23. The show’s blurb promises a lively start to the week: “Wake up and embrace the day with Zoe Ball and the team. Zoe keeps the tunes rolling on Maximum Music Monday.”

Zoe Ball has been noticeably absent from her BBC Radio 2 show for several weeks, prompting concern among her fans. In her absence, Scott Mills and Gaby Roslin have stepped in to cover her slot.

Scott previously addressed Zoe’s absence on air, saying: “Do not freak out, you have not overslept, if you’ve just put us on this morning, it’s Scott Mills in for Zoe for the next few weeks. I’m sending you all my love Zo’, as are the team.”

However, the reason for Zoe’s extended break remains unclear, leaving fans to speculate and express their concern on social media. One fan wrote: “What has happened to Zoe Ball? She’s been off the Radio for 5 weeks in total – no mention of her whatsoever the last few weeks. I hope she’s ok,” while another simply posted: “I hope #ZoeBall is OK.”

Meanwhile, Zoe’s son Woody has been keeping busy with his own projects, including sharing advice for fellow DJs on how to record or livestream their sets. However, when fans quizzed him about his mum’s whereabouts, he remained tight-lipped.
