1000-lb Sisters star Amy Slaton has broken her silence after getting arrested at a zoo.

The 37-year-old reality star had an absolute nightmare visit to Tennessee Safari Park last summer. She was bitten by a camel and taken away on a stretcher before being arrested at the zoo on suspicion of drug and child endangerment offences.

Amy was taken into custody for booking after cops discovered drugs such as psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana in her vehicle, as reported by TMZ. The Crockett County Sheriff’s Department said they responded to a call about Slaton’s bite injury but were “immediately overtaken by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle”.

Amy and friend Brian Scott Lovvorn, who was driving the car, were both arrested on suspicion of illegal possession undisclosed substances and two counts of child endangerment. Amy has now revealed her fears of being locked up in a trailer for the seventh series of 1000-lb Sisters.

“After the whole camel biting incident, the cops came in and started reading my rights,” she said as a mugshot appeared on the screen. “They should be handcuffing the damn camel.”

Amy tearfully tells her family off for staging what she believed to be an “intervention” about the incident. “This is not supposed to be an intervention,” she said, but her family denied this, prompting her to argue: “It’s sounding just like an intervention to me.”

Her brother, Chris Combs, told her: “If they throw the book at you, you’re looking at 30 years.” Amy replied: “I’m scared s***less,” adding: “I just hope I don’t ruin my whole life.”

Amy pleaded guilty to two counts of drug possession last December in a plea deal that saw their drug charges reduced to simple possession and the child endangerment charges dismissed. Amy and Brian both pled guilty to drug charges and were handed two years of supervised probation.

She has also revealed she has met a new man(Image: TLC)

During the first series of 1,000lb Sisters, which premiered in January 2020, Slaton weighed more than 400 pounds. After undergoing gastric bypass surgery, she dropped an additional 136lbs, reducing her weight to 275lbs.

Amy’s sister Tammy has also had to battle her addiction to nicotine as she gears up for her skin removal surgery. “I’ve come so far in my weight loss journey,” she said, “but now I have even more insecurities about my body because I have so much loose skin.”

Amy has also met a new man. “I met a man,” she said. “We’re moving so fast, but yet it just makes sense.”

Last year, Amy said she felt “blessed” following her jaw-dropping 13-stone weight loss. Post-divorce from Michael Halterman, she admitted to facing struggles but shared that she sought support through an online mental health service that caters directly to clients.

Slaton and Halterman split in 2023 after a difficult divorce. Slaton and Halterman eloped in 2017 and then had a wedding in 2019, which was seen on the popular TLC program.

They split less than a year after Slaton welcomed her son Glenn Allen in July 2022. Her other son, Gage, was born in November 2020. The new series of 100-lb Sisters will air on April 15.
