George Harrison’s death shook the world when he died in 2001 at just 58 years old but new technology has revealed what one of the world’s greatest musicians could’ve looked like in 2025
George Harrison is widely respected as one of the 20th century’s most talented musicians and songwriters.
Often overlooked by bandmates and Beatles titans John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Harrison was still responsible for some of the band’s biggest hits including Here Comes the Sun and While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
After the band officially broke up in 1974 the talented guitarist launched his solo career writing and producing two more No1 albums adding to his already catalogue of hits with songs My Sweet Lord and Got My Mind Set on You, having some of the most instant success in his solo careers out of any of his bandmates.
In 2001 Beatles fans and the world mourned his passing after his death at a friend’s Los Angeles home following a battle with cancer. Harrison was with his wife Olivia and son Dhani at his side when he passed away.
In a family statement, they said: “He left this world as he lived in it, conscious of God, fearless of death, and at peace, surrounded by family and friends. He often said everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another.”
At the time McCartney added: “I am devastated and very, very sad. He was a lovely guy and a very brave man and had a wonderful sense of humour. He is really just my baby brother”.
George was always known as the quieter Beatle, always preferring to be a musician over being the global superstar the band became. His attitude was perfectly summed up in his first song titled Don’t Bother Me.
Now, 24 years and on what would’ve been his 82nd birthday, later new artificial intelligence technology has created images of what George Harrison may have looked like. The AI tool is trained on huge amounts of data from people’s faces allowing it to detect and predict how we will age and what that process may look like.
Taking in thousands of images from when George Harrison was alive and how he had begun ageing, the tech can add that process to build new images. The tool adds things such as wrinkles, sagging skin, grey hair and manipulates the structure of the face as if Harrison would’ve aged decades later.
The Midjourney AI has created these captures that look eerily real, although slightly cartoon-like with George remaining in his natural habitat close to a guitar. The star also has maintained much of his long locks that became his trade-mark look.
