Natasha Hamilton has shared her horror after a car drove into crowds at Liverpool’s Premier League title celebrations, injuring dozens of people including four children
Atomic Kitten star Natasha Hamilton’s family were at the Liverpool parade.
The singer’s loved ones had a near-miss experience as her father and nephew were at the Liverpool parade just moments before a car ploughed into fans.
The city was in high spirits celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League triumph on Monday when a 53-year-old white British man drove his vehicle into the crowd, leaving many injured.
A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service confirmed that four children were among those hurt in the chaos that unfolded in Liverpool last night. They also stated that 20 individuals received treatment at the scene for minor injuries without needing further hospital care.
In total, 27 people were transported to hospital by ambulance, with two suffering serious injuries. Additionally, a cyclist paramedic was hit by the car but miraculously escaped injury.
Atomic Kitten star Natasha Hamilton took to Instagram Stories to express her shock, posting a photo of her dad and nephew donning Liverpool jerseys.
She wrote: “My dad and nephew were in Liverpool today at the celebration parade. Then I saw a video of what happened and my heart sank. Thankfully they’re both safe but I’m absolutely horrified at what I saw today and my thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.”
The North West Ambulance Service has confirmed the serious injury of two individuals, including one child. Merseyside Police have clarified that they do not consider the event to be an act of terrorism, reports the Mirror.
Fire brigades and ambulances dashed to the scene, rescuing three adults and a child who were pinned under a vehicle. Distressing videos making rounds on social media depict a car recklessly ploughing through crowds on Water Street, hitting several individuals before coming to a stop.
Many have taken to social media to extend their thoughts and prayers to those at the Liverpool parade, including John Bishop.
The comedian, who had attended the parade with his father, expressed his shock: “I was at the parade today with my dad and like everyone else I am shocked and heartbroken about the events at the end of the Liverpool parade.”
“My heart goes out to all those affected. Our anthem could not be more appropriate: You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
