BBC Repair Shop hunk Will Kirk was left red-faced when he told excited female fans that he had ‘’a big chisel’’. The woodwork expert, 39, was asked if he had a favourite tool which he always kept by his side.

And he told a live theatre audience: “I have a big chisel. It’s heavy and it’s wide. It’s good for doing so many jobs. If you tune in to the show you’ll see it.”

His comments left his army of female admirers sniggering at the innuendo.

And realising that they were thinking about another kind of tool, he laughed: “Oh grow up!”
