BGT’s Auzzy Blood who sparked hundreds of complaints to make epic return tonight

Britain’s Got Talent launched its first semi-final of the season tonight, and it’s shaping up to be a real spectacle with eight diverse acts ready to dazzle both the judges and audiences tuning in from home.

One act in particular, the centre of a storm of Ofcom complaints during his audition, is making a dramatic return to the “BGT” stage tonight. Auzzy Blood certainly split opinion on ‘BGT’ when he first appeared on the scene back in February, with many watchers labelling his body horror performance as downright “disgusting”.

His controversial act – which involved him threading a sizeable silver meat hook through his nose and engaging in some sword swallowing – attracted a whopping 771 Ofcom complaints. Disgruntled viewers didn’t hesitate to vent their distaste on social media.

Someone exclaimed: “Absolutely awful why on earth would you put this sort of thing on before 9 o’clock and with children in the audience and watching at home? BGT used to be such a good program full of proper talent, not this rubbish.”

Another viewer was fired up, saying: “Thought you were a family-friendly show…that was horrendous,” while yet another commented: “Trigger warning next time please!” Despite the backlash, Auzzy is all geared up to perform once more alongside seven other semi-finalists this Saturday night, after which the public will have their say on who deserves a coveted spot in the grand finale, reports the Mirror.

Now, judges can press the golden buzzer during the live show to send one act of their choice straight to the final – a controversial move that has sparked anger in a few viewers.

Good Morning Britain’s own Richard Arnold said: “For the first time in BGT history, the buzzer will now appear during the live rounds. It has already been pressed eight times this series.”

ITV added: “In each semi-final, either one of the judges or Ant and Dec will be given control of the golden buzzer, and as soon as they see a performance worthy of a place in the final, they will have just one opportunity to press it.”

ITV revealed earlier this month that the semi-finals will now be broadcast every Saturday over five weekends. “Britain’s Got Talent will be more entertaining than ever before, not only with the addition of the Golden Buzzer for the live shows, but the semi-finals will now air live every Saturday night, claiming the weekends as the home of BGT. Be prepared for unpredictable, unmissable and unbeatable event television,” the channel announced.

This scheduling shift means that the grand finale will now occur on Saturday 31 May – significantly later in the series.
