Britain’s Got Talent seems to have landed itself in hot water with some viewers who believe the semi-finals was ‘fixed’ and that the wrong act was put through to the finals
Britain’s Got Talent has been branded a “fix” by fans fuming that the wrong act was put through to the finals.
The ITV show has sparked “fix” rows many times over the years, including last year when many felt it was unfair that West End star Sydnie Christmas won the competition. Just a few weeks ago, viewers claimed singer Max Fox’s last-minute audition was set up for the cameras.
Now, viewers have claimed that the wrong contestant was sent through to the finals. A number of acts performed for judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli during the semi-finals on Sunday night (May 18).
These included Max Fox, Joseph Charm, Hear Our Voice, Maya Giotea, Obsequious, Idolls, Papi and TK Magic. It was a good night for comedian Joseph Charm as Alesha decided to push her golden buzzer for him.
It meant he got an automatic place in the Britain’s Got Talent final. After being impressed by his jokes, Alesha said: “I loved you when I first met you, and I was praying tonight that you would deliver.
“Your energy, enthusiasm, passion and talent was shining in all its glory. Thank you for not letting us down and for making everybody feel good, that was a beautiful moment. We can’t wait to see you in the final, let’s go baby.”
To top off the special moment, Alesha pulled Joseph’s mum over and they pressed the golden buzzer together. However, many fans were unimpressed by her choice and felt the show was a “fix”.
One on X, formerly Twitter, complained: “Such a fix, knew @AleshaOfficial would press her golden buzzer, so but that was horrendously painful to watch.” Another thought it was suspicious that Joseph had recently appeared on another ITV show – Deal or No Deal.
“The fact that Joseph was also on Deal or No Deal recently makes this Golden Buzzer even more of a fix,” they said. “The whole act was way too loud and he wasn’t that funny. He’s a nice guy though.”
A third claimed: “Fix! No way was that a golden buzzer”. A fourth added: “Alesha Dixon in charge of the golden buzzer – not rocket science who she’d use it for. Not one of the best acts certainly – fix!”
But others loved the golden buzzer moment and were quick to support the comedian. One commented: “OMG, that was such a heartwarming moment! Alesha hitting the Golden Buzzer for Joseph Charm with his mum’s help had me tearing up!”
“Well done Joseph Charm, I hope you win!” said another. A third wrote: “My guy Joseph Charm got the golden buzzer”.
