Die Hard star Bruce Willis’ family have been caring for the actor since he was diagnosed with dementia in February 2023 and on Father’s Day 2025, his daughter Rumer shared a gut-wrenching message
Bruce Willis’ daughter Rumer has given an update on her father.
On Father’s Day, Rumer revealed she has a ‘deep ache in her chest’. The Die Hard icon, aged 70, has been enveloped in love and care by his family since his dementia diagnosis in February 2023.
On Instagram, Rumer often shares touching photos with her beloved father and for Father’s Day 2025 she expressed how “lucky” she feels to call him dad. Accompanied by a montage of pictures with Bruce, including an intimate black and white snap where she is seen embracing him, Rumer opened up about her regrets of not having asked the movie star more about his life’s “successes and struggles” when she had the chance.
In the post’s caption, she wrote: “Today is hard, I feel a deep ache in my chest to talk to you and tell you everything I’m doing and what’s going on in my life. To hug you and ask you about life and your stories and struggles and successes. I wish I asked you more questions while you could still tell me about it all.”
Continuing her emotional message, Rumer added: “But I know you wouldn’t want me to be sad today so I’ll try to just be grateful, reminding myself how lucky I am that you’re my dad and that you’re still with me and I can still hold you and hug you and kiss your cheek and rub your head, I can tell you stories.”
Revealing the special connection Bruce shares with her little one, Louetta, the proud mum shared: “I can watch the way your eyes light up when you see Louetta I will be grateful for every moment I have with you. I love you so much dad, happy Father’s Day. Sending love to all those who are in the boat with me or have lost their fathers,” reports the Mirror.
Hollywood heavyweight Bruce, famous for his explosive roles in flicks like Die Hard, Red and Glass, has taken a step back from the limelight and is now leading a life far from from his blockbuster movie days.
67 year old Bruce was previously diagnosed aphasia, which prompted the acting legend to hang up his action boots, but in February 2023 it was revealed he has frontotemporal dementia, also known as FTD.
