Sophia Hutchins, who was a close friend and manager of Caitlyn Jenner, has died at the age of 29 after her ATV collided with a car and plunged 350 feet down a cliff near Jenner’s Malibu home
Sophia Hutchins, Caitlyn Jenner’s long-standing manager and close confidante, has tragically passed away at the age of 29 following a dreadful ATV accident near Jenner’s Malibu residence. The fatal incident was confirmed by authorities and initially reported by TMZ. It took place in the early hours of Wednesday, July 2, when Hutchins’ all-terrain vehicle collided with a moving car on a twisty road overlooking the Pacific Coast.
The impact reportedly sent the ATV over the edge of the road, resulting in both it and Hutchins plummeting approximately 350 feet down a steep cliff. Despite emergency services arriving swiftly at the scene, Hutchins was pronounced dead upon their arrival.
According to officials, the two occupants of the car miraculously escaped unscathed. It remains unclear whether Jenner, aged 75, was at home or witnessed the horrific event.
Representatives for Jenner and her family have yet to respond to press enquiries.
Hutchins, who was also a transgender woman, first formed a bond with Jenner shortly after the Olympic icon publicly came out in 2015, reports OK!.
She frequently cited Jenner as a beacon of inspiration during her own gender transition while studying at Pepperdine University. This relationship gradually developed into both a personal and professional alliance.
In 2017, Hutchins moved into Jenner’s £2.8million Malibu abode and assumed control of Jenner’s career, filling the shoes previously worn by Jenner’s ex-spouse Kris Jenner.
In a 2019 chat with The New York Times, Hutchins clarified that their bond was purely platonic and professional, stating: “We were never romantically involved.”
Hutchins featured on Jenner’s E! reality spin-off, I Am Cait, which followed Jenner’s gender transition journey and aired for two seasons.
It’s believed that Sophia’s last public outing with Jenner was at the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, DC in April 2024.
