Celebrity Big Brother star Michael Fabricant has been in a relationship for 35 years and also has “two friends” that he goes on holiday with separately, making it a “complicated” arrangement
Former Tory MP Michael Fabricant has been opening up about his love life like never before on Celebrity Big Brother.
Strutting into the house as contestant number four, the openly bisexual ex-politico got real chatty with Drag Race UK champ Danny Beard, dishing the dirt that he’s been in a 35-year romance while also juggling a couple of “deep friendships.”
In Tuesday’s juicy episode, 74-year-old Michael dropped hints about his bond with ex-West Midlands Mayor Andy Street, whom he first bumped into at an Oxford Uni reunion. Without dropping Andy’s name, he hinted at a bit of an open situation, chatting about how he jets off on separate hols with various mates.
“I’ve never been in the closet,” he declared. And when Celebrity Big Brother housemate JoJo Siwa probed if he was seeing someone, Michael dished: “It’s complicated. I have someone who I have known for 35 years who’s 13 years younger than me. But I also have, and this is even more complicated, two friends and we all go on holiday separately with me or not.”
Drag Race UK icon Danny couldn’t resist probing: “Would you call that an open relationship? Because I actually think a lot of gay people like that and a lot of straight people don’t understand it.”, reports the Mirror.
Michael seemed in accord, nodding, then specified: “I would maybe say I’ve got very deep friendships. That would maybe be more tactful.”
This juicy snippet had viewers’ jaws dropping and social media lit up with gossip. Viewers cracked jokes as one tweeted: “Michael Fabricant has THREE boyfriends. And I can’t even get one.”
Someone else chimed in with a cheeky comment: “Not Michael Fabricant being in a polyamorous relationship… and with THAT hair….what is going on.”
Another person was flabbergasted, posting: “Shaking at Michael Fabricant and Andy Street’s open relationship. Never saw that coming and I mean NEVER.”
Meanwhile, a Celebrity Big Brother fan confessed: “Just had to explain to my very traditional, vanilla Dad in layman’s terms what Michael was talking about regarding his ‘friendships’ and honestly I think I’ve taken about five years off his life.”
Previously, Michael has openly spoken about his bond with Andy Street, labeling it as “very close” yet admitting they “lead separate lives.”
In a past heart-to-heart on GB News, he revealed the pair consider themselves “life partners.”
Fabricant held the Lichfield seat from 1992 until 2024, when he was defeated in the general election. Throughout his political journey, he served under Boris Johnson, whom he once lauded as a “visionary,” stating that Johnson would be “hard to replace” after resigning as Conservative leader.
In recognition of his service, Michael was knighted in Boris Johnson’s resignation honours list and received his title in December 2023. Despite his political achievements, his debut on Celebrity Big Brother was met with a less than warm reception.
As he entered the house on Monday night, he was greeted with what has been described as the “loudest arrival boos ever.”
