Celebrity Big Brother finalist Chris Hughes has claimed he was “possessed” after a ghost hunting trip. The reality star said he was “turned into someone else” and would scream in the night.
Chris, 32, was asked to take part in telly show Celebrity Ghost Hunt Live, which was hosted by Rylan. He said that afterwards he and his girlfriend at the time, Olivia Attwood who he met on Love Island, feared he was being controlled by an evil spirit.
Chris revealed: “For a few weeks after filming I genuinely believed I was possessed. Olivia did too. My sleepwalking got worse than ever and it was like I turned into someone else.
“I started to sit up in bed screaming three or four times a night and Liv had to wake me up by shaking me really hard.
“I also became convinced someone was trying to get in through our front door.
“One night I got out of bed and stood and stared at the door for ages, and then suddenly I came to and wondered what the hell I was doing.
“Things were so bad we had to cancel a photo shoot because my nightmares had been so bad the previous night.
“I had barely slept a wink and Olivia was so exhausted she ended up going and sleeping on the sofa.
“I don’t reckon I’ll be going ghost hunting again any time soon.”
The TV event took place at Harwich Redoubt Fort in Essex, which is more than 200 years old and said to be haunted.
He said that during filming he could “hear someone or something scratching the wall behind me”.
Chris explained: “I was so scared I was frozen to the spot, and even though I wanted to I couldn’t bring myself to look round to where the noise was coming from.
“It was as clear as day and I wish other people had been in that room with me and felt what I felt because it’s hard to get across how f***ing weird it was.”
He also said he was freaked out by a séance with a Ouija board which moved on the show while his arms were “paralysed”.
Chris added: “It was like my forearms were made of lead and my whole body was burning.
“I’d been freezing cold the entire day, and then when we sat down at that table my whole body heated up.
“It was definitely moving of its own accord and that was unbelievably unnerving.
“There was no denying there was an unexplainable energy in that room.”
