Mickey Rouke isn’t a ‘creep’ or a ‘perv’ and isn’t trying to offend gay people, his pal has argued.

The Hollywood star, 72, has come under fire on several occasions during his first week in the Celebrity Big Brother house. Show bosses slapped him with a warning after he made vile remarks about co-star JoJo Siwa’s sexuality, which she branded “homophobic”.

The former boxer also hit on host AJ Odudu before stepping into the house, prompting fans to call him “creepy”. Luckily, she didn’t seem to phased by it and later addressed the “encounter” on social media.

JoJo Siwa’s girlfriend, Kath Ebbs, has branded the hardman “dangerous” and “disturbing” following his feud with the 21-year-old pop star. However, Mickey’s longtime pal Kimberly Hines has argued that he’s “not creepy” or “pervy” and “isn’t trying to offend gay people”.

She insists that he’s simply from a different generation and Mickey simply isn’t clued up on the “politically correct vocabulary” we use in 2025. She believes he’s not trying to hurt anyone and simply isn’t with the times.

She told The Sun: “Mickey was a star from the 80s and 90s, and it’s now 2025 and there’s a politically correct vocabulary and a way people need to be. He, she, they. But Mickey just doesn’t know that new vocabulary. He’s old school. He’s 72. He’s not doing it to offend.

“He’s not creepy. He’s not pervy. He’s not trying to offend gay people, lesbian people. For him, he doesn’t realize that now every word you say can and will be used against you. And that’s just the way this world works now.”

Kimberly, who has been friends with Mickey for years, reckons JoJo is “overreacting” to the actor’s comments. She claimed Big Brother bosses want this kind of drama, and that they knew bringing a “bad boy” like Mickey into the house would create the drama and publicity they were seeking.

She has insisted that the actor has a “soft, beautiful side” and that he’s being made to look like a “creepy, old, mean man” which he isn’t. She said everyone makes mistakes and hailed him as a “cinematic icon”.

The Oscar-nominated star also upset comedian Donna Preston with an apparent comment about her weight. Donna was talking about her LED mask when he told her she’d be “better off running around the block”, and that you “are what you eat” when she said she was trying to get rid of her “turkey neck”.

Mickey was given a formal warning for using “offensive and unacceptable” language towards JoJo. The singer, who is gay, branded him “homophobic” after he said he was “going to vote the lesbian out real quick”.

Mickey asked JoJo: “Do you like girls or boys?”., and after revealing her partner is non-binary, Mickey said: “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore,” prompting JoJo to fire back: “I can guarantee I’ll still be gay and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship.”

Later on, Mickey declared “I’m going to vote the lesbian out real quick.” JoJo, who overheard it, said: “That’s homophobic, if that was your reasoning,” and Love Island star Chris Hughes told Mickey he can’t say that.

After asking JoJo where the smoking area is, Mickey said: “I need a fag.” Gesturing to JoJo he said: “I’m not talking to you.” Once again, Chris told him off for his language, and Mickey responded: “I know. I was talking about a cigarette.”

In the Diary Room, Big Brother told him he could be kicked out of the house if he continued with “language or behaviour of this nature”. He said: “I apologise. I don’t have dishonourable intentions – I’m just talking smack, you know. I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.”

Chris told Mickey that JoJo was “very upset earlier” and she told him it was “not an acceptable word”. He told her: “I want to apologise. I’ve got a habit of having a short fuse. And I don’t mean nothing by it. I do mean it [sorry]. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t say it to you.”
