EXCLUSIVE: Chase & Status thrilled excited ravers with their live London gig this weekend – Daily Star reporter Carly Hacon ventured down to check out the event herself
Drum and bass legends Chase & Status Live O2 Arena performance was certainly a night to remember – this dynamic duo definitely brought the heat to one of London’s best music venues.
The day finally arrived after months of waiting for what I knew was going to be one of the best gigs of the year and let me tell you, the drum and bass double act did not disappoint.
After seeing fellow DnB veteran Andy C blow the roof off the iconic venue back in April 2023, I knew I had to get a ticket for Chase and Status’ London O2 Arena gig on May 3rd.
Having seen Chase & Status well over 30 times in my raving career I knew I was in for a wild wide, but the journey through nostalgia didn’t fail to surprise me.
Warming up the evening nicely was 4am Kru with a seriously impressive lineup – my friend actually preferred the London-based production duo’s set to the heavyweight headliner.
Although they put in a solid shift my heart will always remain the drum and bass behemoths themselves, and luckily they were up next to take us on a throwback tour through their impressive track catalogue.
They blended their classic dance floor fillers with harder hits, which included songs from their album No More Idols album all the way through to their current chart toppers. With no era in their roster unturned, the duo paid homage to each section of their discography perfectly.
Although there was no sight of Stormzy (much to the crowd’s dismay) the pair still pulled out all the stops by welcoming huge feature artists such as Flowdan, IRAH, ArrDee, Moko, Tom Grennan, Trigga, Takura, Novelist and others.
Aside from the top notch tunes, the visuals took the whole night to the next level with flames erupting throughout the arena when the beat dropped and lasers cutting through the air above us.
It was amazing to watch the sea of fans moving below us and connecting through the dance floor and it was interesting to notice that they weren’t the typical stereotypical raver crew.
We saw plenty of couples, families and even a few younger kids with their parents – who are clearly bringing them up the right way!
My one and only complaint is the night felt like it went far too quickly (although it was a 90 minute set) and I was gutted we had to go home… Until next time!
I’ll be keeping an eye out for more DnB events at the O2 Arena and so should you. If you haven’t got yourself a ticket for Chase & Status’ other shows then I highly suggest you try cop one.
