Chris Brown issues six word statement after prison release for nightclub GBH

Pop star Chris Brown has broken his silence after being released from prison after he was recently charged with grievous bodily harm for allegedly using a bottle to harm another man

Chris Brown has spoken out after being released from prison.

The singer was granted bail just days after he was charged with grievous bodily harm, after being accused of allegedly using a bottle to cause bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw while in London’s Tape nightclub on 19 February 2023.

He took to Instagram to post a message on his Story. Brown posed a black background with the words: “FROM THE CAGE TO THE STAGE!!! BREEZYBOWL.”

Chris’ post appear to imply that his bail allows him to fulfill his tour dates and perform to crowds across Europe before his scheduled court date in June.

The rapper was arrested at the Lowry Hotel, Salford on 15 May after he flew into Manchester Airport for his Breezy Bowl XX 20th anniversary tour, weeks before he was set to play across the country.

Scheduled UK shows include Manchester, Birmingham, London, Cardiff and Glasgow.

His court hearing is reportedly scheduled for 13 June and he was granted bail on 21 May. Just a day after Brown was arrested he appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court, where it was determined that his case was too severe and must be escalated to Crown Court level.

He is required to pay a £5 million security fee to the court, which is a financial guarantee that ensures a defendant returns to court. They may be forfeited if they breach the conditions of their bail.

At his hearing, Brown reportedly wore an all-black outfit and spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

A statement issued by Adele Kelly, deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS London North, said: “We have authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown, 36, with one count of grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.”

“The alleged incident occurred in London on February 19, 2023. He will have his first court appearance on Friday, May 16 at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.”

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”

“It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings. The court heard that Brown had left the UK after the alleged attack and hadn’t returned for two years.”
