Beloved comedian Milton Jones has announced he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The 60-year-old TV star was a regular on the BBC’s Mock the Week alongside the likes of Hugh Dennis and savage comedian Frankie Boyle. The comic has been diagnosed with a “treatable prostrate cancer” and is set to undergo surgery.
Jones told fans he will need time to recover from the operation and will need to cancel some tour dates from his ongoing Ha!Milton tour. He said he was “so sorry” to have to cancel the dates but kept his sense of humour as he reassured fans “abnormal service will resume as soon as possible”.
He wrote on Instagram: “I’m so sorry about this, but I need to announce the cancellation of several dates from my ongoing Ha!Milton Tour.

“The affected shows are in Leeds, Coventry, Basingstoke, Sterts, Launceston, Durham, Hexham, Ilkley, Wakefield, Lichfield, Tunbridge Wellsm, Portsmouth, and Lyme Regis which were all due to take place this summer.”
He continued: “This difficult decision comes following a recent diagnosis of treatable prostate cancer. I’ll be undergoing surgery soon and will need time afterwards to fully recover.”
Milton explained that some summer dates of the tour will be rescheduled to later this year, and that all of the scheduled Autumn dates have not been affected.

He added: “In addition, the Summer dates in Colchester, Bridlington, Stroud, and London will be rescheduled to the Autumn. All dates currently scheduled for the Autumn leg of the tour remain unaffected. Ticket holders for the cancelled shows will be contacted directly by the venue box office.
“Thanks for your support and respecting my privacy during this time. This decision has not been taken lightly.”
The BBC star quipped: “Trust me, abnormal service will resume as soon as possible and I’m looking forward to being back out on the road again soon—though probably not on a bike!”
Milton was inundated with support from his famous friends and fans. Sir Chris Hoy wrote: “Really sorry to hear it mate, best of luck [heart emoji]”.
One fan wrote: “Understandable Milton, get well soon and we look forward to laughing at you again when you are better…take care.” Another commented “Take as much time as you need, hoping all goes well.”
Milton Jones shot to fame on Mock the Week and has also appeared on shows such as the BBC’s Live at the Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and House of Games. His previous tours, such as Milton Impossible and Milton Jones Is Out There, saw the comic play to over one hundred thousand people.
He is also the author of the books Where Do Comedians Go When They Die? and 10 Second Sermons. He’s also published the (aptly named) Even More Concise 10 Second Sermons.
