Dancing On Ice star Jayne Torvill was left red-faced after she took a tumble in front of a packed crowd on her farewell tour with ice skating partner Christopher Dean
Dancing On Ice legend Jayne Torvill crashed out on the ice after taking a tumble during her and Christopher Dean’s iconic Bolero routine on their UK tour.
The ITV skating duo were giving it some welly with their stunning moves at the BP Pulse Live Arena in Brum this Sunday when Jayne hit the deck.
The 67-year-old skating queen slipped up mid-dance with Chris, 66, leaving the audience gasping. But like the pro she is, Jayne was back on her feet in no time, with a little help from her mate Chris, and carried on with the show as if nothing had happened.
The pair, who became household names after their blinder of a performance at the 1984 Winter Olympics, have just kicked off their swansong tour.
They’ve still got it, with Jayne dazzling in a lush purple ombre number and Christopher looking sharp in a silk purple shirt and smart trousers to match his partner.
Torvill and Dean first joined forces back in 1975 and now they’re saying a fond farewell with their tour, aptly named Torvill and Dean: Our Last Dance, which will be gliding all the way through to May 11, reports the Mirror.
They’ll be gracing the ice in spots like London, Belfast, Newcastle, and Glasgow. Ahead of their final bow, Chris shared that they reckon it’s the “right time” to hang up their skates.
He remarked: “We’re not spring chickens anymore,” and then mentioned that they aim to hang up their skates while they can still deliver performances “to a certain degree”. The iconic skating pair have been captured on film during their farewell tour across the nation.
ITV has just dropped the news that viewers can look forward to an hour-long special, delving into the illustrious careers of the ice legends. This exclusive will rewind through their sparkling highlights and tag along with the duo as they gear up for their ultimate adieu to their devotees.
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have graced our screens on Dancing On Ice since its 2009 debut, but alas, the show’s curtain call was announced due to dwindling viewer numbers.
The upcoming documentary, titled Torvill and Dean: The Last Dance, is set to broadcast later this year, offering fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of Britain’s most celebrated ice dancers.
Chatting with the Mirror, Jayne and Chris shared: “We’re delighted that our farewell tour will be the subject of an ITV documentary.
“The programme will be filled with poignant and joyful moments as we plan, rehearse and perform our final skating journey together – all caught on camera by a film crew following us over many months as we bid farewell to our 50 year ice skating partnership.
“It’s fitting that this documentary will be broadcast on ITV, our TV home for the last two decades. We hope fans will enjoy this final opportunity to see us skate together.”
