Apple TV viewers have suddenly realised that Severance’s most “horrifying” storyline includes one vital character that many fans of the series have “forgotten” about
Severance fans are deeply disturbed by one forgotten character’s “horrifying” plot twist.
Fans were introduced to Gabby back in season one as Mark’s sister Devon prepares for labour at a cabin lodge with her husband Ricken. Throughout their interaction, Devon begins to realise that Gabby was Severed for the duration of her pregnancy and doesn’t remember who she is.
Over on X/Twitter, someone wrote a grisly tweet about the season one character. It was revealed that the wealthy mother had herself Severed so that she could give birth to her child, meaning her Outie wouldn’t have to endure the pain.
They typed: “Thinking of Gabby’s Innie and how she’s only conscious during labour. She gives birth and gives the baby a name it won’t bear and when she’s conscious again, it’s to birth another.”
“Depending on how many kids the senator wants, William/Brandon might’ve been her last time ‘alive’.”
The realisation left a number of Apple TV fans horrified as they realised the pain Gabby’s Innie had to face. Someone wrote: “It’s so distressing, Jesus,” with a reply that read: “Breaks my heart honestly.”
“What a life…yikes,” said another fan of the series while a third person chimed in: “I thought she might be conscious for the entire pregnancy tbh. or who knows maybe her outie can flip the switch whenever she wants, like if she felt pain or nausea coming on. Either way it’s horrific!”
“There’s probably a lot of unfathomable horrors like this in Severance waiting to be revealed,” wrote another fan of the Ben Stiller show. “Severance is a horror show,” theorised one X/Twitter user, as a second said: “Omg like an enslaved surrogate and nanny? Thats disgusting,” while a third added: “Omg I forgot about her!!!!” with a crying emoji.
Season two began airing back in January and episode four was unlike anything Severance fans have ever seen. Irving rumbled Helena’s identity after realising she was posing as Helly R and attempted to drown her in a lake.
Fans of the show began to lose their minds as they realised the shocking act was foreshadowed way before it happened. When the Macrodata Refiners return to work, they are showed a stop motion video titled Lumon is Listening, which shows the MDR team in their office.
Helly’s puppet can be seen with her hands tied behind her back as she leans over a large pool of water bobbing for pineapples. The camera angle switches to show her face underwater, which is a direct reference to the shot used as Irving dunks her head in the stream later in the season.
