Television star Duane Chapman has suffered another family tragedy with the death of his step-grandson Anthony Zecca, who was accidentally shot by his dad Gregory
Dog The Bounty Hunter Duane Chapman and his wife Francie are going through another family tragedy with the death of their grandson. Francie’s son Gregory accidentally shot and killed his 13-year-old son Anthony in a tragic mishap.
According to TMZ, the devastating accident happened on Saturday night (July 19) at their apartment in Naples, Florida. Law enforcement confirmed to the site that they had responded to a call about a shooting at around 8pm local time.
It has been described as an “isolated incident” and no arrests have been made, while the investigation continues.
Duane, the step-grandfather of young Anthony, and wife Francie said in a statement: “We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”
The television personality married Francie in 2021 following the deaths of each of their spouses. They explained that it was grief that brought them together.
Gregory is Francie’s son from her previous marriage. He works with Duana on his bounty hunting team, alongside Lyssa Chapman, Duane’s daughter.
Duana has been married six times. His first, to LaFonda Sue Honeycutt, brought him two children – Duane and Leland – who appeared on television with him.
He later married Ann Tegnell and had three children with her – Zebediah, Wesley and James Robert, or JR. However he had just been released from prison after a homicide charge, and Ann was 17 at the time.
He married her to avoid violating his parole, for having sex with a minor, even though he did not love her. Sadly, Zebediah died less than a month after he was born prematurely. The couple divorced after Wesley was born, but got back together and conceived James.
Duane then married Lyssa Rae, having met two days before. He said he offered her $1,000 to have a child with him, and they eventually had three – Barbara, who died in 2006, Tucker and Lyssa.
His fourth marriage was with Tawny Marie, after he had arrested her on a drug possession charge. They had no children together, and Duane would go on to label the marriage “a disaster from the start”.
Then came Beth, with the couple having two children – Bonnie and Garry. Duane also adopted Beth’s daughter Cecily, and helped her get back in touch with her adopted son Dominic. Beth tragically died in 2019 from throat cancer.
Two years later, Duane became got married to Francie, who had recently lost her husband Bob.
Duana also has an older son, Christopher, who was born to a previously girlfriend, Debbie. She kept the pregnancy a secret and tragically took her own life, leading to Christopher being adopted.
