United States President Donald Trump has taken aim at Taylor Swift after she was heavily booed during the Super Bowl. Pop sensation Swift was there to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce as he and the Kansas City Chiefs squared up against Jalen Hurts and the Eagles.
NFL fans have mixed feelings about the spotlight Swift gets ever since her and Kelce started dating. And as Swift was shown on the big screen at the Super Bowl, they made their feelings clear with a roar of boos.
Taylor’s face spelled shock as she nervously glanced sideways to Ice Spice, laughing awkwardly and saying to her friends “what’s going on?”.
And it got worse shortly after when Trump took to his own Truth Social platform to add more pain to Swift’s evening moments after the Kansas City Chiefs were thrashed 40-22 by the Philadelphia Eagles.
He wrote: “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”
Trump’s MAGA invoking of MAGA is in reference to Swift urging voters to back Trump’s then-rival Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential Elections . . . which didn’t seem to swing vote in her favour.
The response for Swift was in stark contrast to Trump, who received a huge cheer when he appeared alongside daughter Ivanka in the crowd during the national anthem – a clip of which Trump retweeted on his Twitter/X account.
Kansas City Chiefs fans who joined in with the booing of Swift and subsequent cheering of Trump had high hopes for a historic three-peat, but star man Patrick Mahomes and his team weren’t able to meet expectations.
They were dominated by the the Eagles from start to finish, and Mahomes had a nightmare game—throwing a pick-six before halftime and struggling to get anything going.
Cameras captured the usually unshakable quarterback looking visibly emotional in the final moments, seemingly holding back tears as the reality of the loss set in. Following the match the 29-year-old expressed how tricky the defeat was: “”It was kind of 14 points that I gave them and it’s hard to come back from that at the Super Bowl. I just didn’t play to my standard and I have to be better next time.”
