Duffy is finally returning to music.

The singer, known for her iconic hit singles Mercy and Warwick Avenue, has taken a long hiatus from her career but recently posted a video on Instagram explaining that she is working on a new project. Via the @e.motionzzz account, Duffy lipsynced along to her own song Mercy to tease an upcoming remix.

The singer looked as glamorous as ever in a black top, sporting her signature blonde blowout and dark eyeliner as she filmed herself. The video then cut to clips from her Mercy music video and the caption read: “Some of you asked if Duffy was really doing a UK Garage remix…”

@e.motionzzz added the hashtags #duffy, #ukgarage, #newmusic and #speedgarage as fans rushed to the comment section to share their excitement. One person said: “Oh my god, I am SO excited!!!”

Others typed flame emojis and praising hand emojis as a second fan chimed in: “I’m overwhelmed with happiness. So good to see you Duffy!”

“Sweet Mary mother of god, yes!” read another comment, a second said: “It is so good to see her face,” while a third excitedly wrote: “We are so excited [crying emoji].” Others complimented the singer and branded her “amazing” as someone else gushed: “SHE LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL.”

Duffy has yet to post anything on her own Instagram account, which only has one post. The picture, posted back in June 2020, shows the starlet wearing a black dress while perched on a doorstep – she decided to turn comments off on this upload.

Fans are so excited to see Duffy again as back in 2020, it was made public that the chart-topping singer had experienced a horrifying ordeal after being “drugged for four weeks, raped and taken abroad”.

The singer took time off from her career and told fans: “Rape is like living murder, you are alive but dead. All I can say is it took an extremely long time, sometimes feeling never ending, to reclaim to shattered pieces of me.”

Duffy says that she didn’t report the incident to the police because it “didn’t feel safe” to do so. She wrote a detailed account on her website.

“It was my birthday, I was drugged at a restaurant, I was drugged then for four weeks and travelled to a foreign country.”

“I can’t remember getting on the plane and came round in the back of a travelling vehicle. I was put into a hotel room and the perpetrator returned and raped me.”

Duffy reportedly felt like she “could have been disposed of by him” and she debated running away, but was worried that he would call the police on her.

“I do not know how I had the strength to endure those days, I did feel the presence of something that helped me stay alive.”

After releasing her second album, Duffy vanished from music and fans across the world were shocked to hear what she had been through.
