Eamonn Holmes rushed to hospital in ambulance as he’s left in agony after nasty fall at home

Eamonn Holmes has been rushed to hospital after suffering a fall at home.

The 65-year-old GB News anchor was taken to hospital in an ambulance after falling onto his bathroom floor. The TV star, who split from wife Ruth Langsford last year, has suffered health issues for years.

He told followers he was still in a lot of pain after the accident and shared a snap from the ambulance during his hospital trip. The TV presenter took to Instagram with the concerning photo, which showed him lying in a stretcher in the back of the response vehicle.

He expressed his gratitude to the ambulance crew for their help. He wrote: “An unexpected journey this morning ….. bit of a fall on the bathroom floor. Gosh it hurts. Thank you Ambulance crew.”

Eamonn was inundated with support from his fans in the comments, with one writing: “Oh Eamonn, sending much love.” Another said: “Ohh Eammon! Hope you recover quickly. Best wishes.”

He has been living with chronic back pain and mobility issues for the last few years and often uses a wheelchair or crutches to get around. The pain was caused by a dislocated pelvis.

The former ITV host had double hip replacement surgery in 2016 and admits delaying the op was the “word decision” he ever made. He had been suffering from hip, leg and back pain which was causing him sleepless nights.

The star discovered he had three slipped discs which were limiting the movement in his right leg, meaning he had to walk with a stick. He had epidural injections to manage his pain, saying they ‘helped to a degree but didn’t cure the problem’.

He then got spinal surgery in September 2022. He said of the op: “It went well – the doctor tidied things up and generally the pain has gone which is brilliant. The flip side is that it has now left me with an issue in my left leg, which would collapse unexpectedly.”

Unfortunately, the issues with his left leg led to several falls. While recovering from surgery, Eamonn fell down 18 stairs at his Surrey home and broke his shoulder – and got surgery for this.

“I just went back down the stairs, boom, boom, boom down the whole staircase until I hit the stone floor in the hallway,” he told Mail Online at the time. “Blood was pouring out my mouth and a bone was sticking out my shoulder.”

In 2023, Eamonn underwent a spine and neck stretching procedure, after admitting he couldn’t walk and that he hadn’t recovered from his back surgery. He has tried physiotherapy, back stretches and ice-cold showers, but Eamonn has admitted he’s worried he will never walk again unaided.

“I have tried every treatment but you go: ‘Maybe I’ll never get out of it,’ which is a harsh reality to face,” he said.
