Actor Amar Adatia – who played Jags Panesar in BBC soap EastEnders from 2019 to 2020 – has posted a message on Instagram revealing that he has welcomed another baby
Former EastEnders actor Amar Adatia has welcomed a new baby.
The star, who played Jags Panesar in the BBC soap for a year before the character was later killed off screen, shared his happy news on Instagram. He gave fans a peek of his new arrival with a sweet snap that just gave a partial view of the baby, revealing a onesie and a bit of arm.
The name Arella Adatia was emblazoned on the front of the onesie in a swirly black script, apparently revealing the newborn’s name. “Full Heart,” the proud dad wrote, along with a red heart emoji. He also posted a star emoji as he wrote in the caption: “Welcome to the world Arella Adatia.”
Amar, 39, is fairly quiet on social media and is not thought to have officially announced that he was going to become a father again. He is already dad to a three-year-old, after he and his wife welcomed a baby in December 2021.
When his first child was born he posted a snap of the baby gripping his finger, with an image of Minnie and Mickey Mouse in the background. “Welcome to the World Aliana Adatia,” he wrote.
The actor was inundated with messages from fans after sharing that the family had welcomed baby number two, with some famous faces chiming in. Rukki Nahar, who played Jags’ love interest Habiba Ahmed in EastEnders, was among those to send good wishes.
“Congratulations,” she posted, along with heart and star emojis. And actress Jess Impiazzi dropped a string of red hearts as she sent congrats.
“Whatttt I never knew – congrats to you all,” one fan said, as another said it was “beautiful news”. “Such a beautiful name,” said somebody else.
“Wow Amar so happy for you,” one fan wrote. “OH MY GOD Congratulations,” said another. “Sending lots of love.”
Jags turned up in Albert Square in 2019, along with his brothers Kheerat (Jaz Deol) and Vinny (Shiv Jalota). However, his stint in Walford was a short one, as Jags left the following year when he ended up being sent to jail over an attack on Martin Fowler (James Bye), a crime one of his brothers actually committed.
The following year the character was murdered by a fellow inmate off-screen. Jags was said to have come up against a gang while he was behind bars and ended up losing his life.
The actor’s other TV credits include Four Hours, Doctors, The Endz and Black Gold. After EastEnders he was in the film Override and in 2023 he had a role in comedy horror The Devil Went Down to Islington.
