Sophie Khan Levy joined the cast of EastEnders in 2023 as Priya Panesar, and the actress has already made a big impact on the BBC soap
Sophie Khan Levy has made quite the splash since joining the cast of BBC’s EastEnders in 2023, quickly establishing herself as a fantastic addition to the much-loved soap. She’s slotted into the role of Priya Nandra-Hartthe, the ex of baddie Ravi Gulati (played by Aaron Thiara), and it’s been a wild ride ever since.
Her character Priya rocked up to Walford with her teenage daughter Avani (portrayed by Aaliyah James), throwing Ravi for a loop as he had no clue his daughter even existed. Following the shock and drama, Priya and Avani found an accepting new family with the Panesars.
Now she’s navigating life raising both Avani and her son Davinder (played by Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) alongside Ravi, leading to never a dull moment amidst the often chaotic Panesar clan.
Sophie, at 35, has seamlessly transitioned into the world of EastEnders, to the point where she even nabbed a Best Newcomer nomination at the Inside Soap Awards last year.
She gushed about the honoUr in a chat with Inside Soap, saying: “I’m really excited about it, I feel really honoured because [EastEnders] is such an iconic show.
“So I can’t really believe that A, I’m a part of it, and then B, to be nominated. I just feel really lucky, and I’m really thrilled,” reports Plymouth Live.
When she isn’t stirring things up on Albert Square, Sophie has worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company and had TV stints on Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small and The Sixth Commandment.
The actress loves to give her followers a peek into her life via Instagram, posting everything from stunning selfies to photos of her basking in the sun on luxurious vacations.
Her latest adventure took her to Morocco, adding to her list that includes past jaunts to glam spots like Dubai and France.
It seems like she has a super tight bond with her castmates on EastEnders, especially with her on-screen daughter Aaliyah, as they constantly share cute photos together online.
Priya is gearing up for a major role in the upcoming 40th anniversary of EastEnders, and the drama levels are off the chart now that we know Ravi is getting cosy with Denise Fox (played by Diane Parish).
Sophie spilled the beans about EastEnders’ 40th, gushing: “Being in EastEnders coming up to the 40th anniversary, I can’t believe it. I grew up watching the show, and so to be part of an anniversary episode or moment… it just feels like the show is on a high at the moment, it’s a super exciting time.”
