Educating Yorkshire star Jonny Mitchell is now dating a woman half of his age after finding Channel 4 fame.
Former TV headteacher Jonny, 52, is now dating Abs, 25, after meeting on a night out and his other half has shared an insight of their relationship on TikTok.
Channel 4 star Jonny is best known for being the headteacher at Thornhill Community Academy in Dewsbury when he appeared on the award-winning Channel 4 show over a decade ago.
At the time of filming, the teacher lived with his with ex-wife Lisa and their three their three daughters, Ella, Lydia and Celia. But he is now living with Abs who goes by the username of abs_mxo on the app.
Sharing the story of their meetcute, Abs said: “We met on a night out. I was in a bar, he was in a bar and then I went over to order a drink. I was with my friends and he was with his and then I spilt a drink on him by accident and then we just got talking from there.”
As the pair began to grow closer, Abs moved in with Mr Mitchell in his Yorkshire home. However, she wanted to put to bed some rumours that she was one of his former students. She said: “I’ve been asked so many times ‘Was I one of Jonny’s students?'” she laughed before confirming that she was not.
Despite their age gap, she revealed that the pair have “so much in common”. She added: “It feels like such a normal relationship.
“I think people assume because you’re in an age gap relationship that you’re not going to have anything in common and that we just sit in silence but no, it’s not like that.
“People ask if my parents approve. I mean, I’m 25 so I don’t need their approval but they like him and get along with him.
“Other people’s opinions are irrelevant to me. They’re allowed their opinion, that’s okay. But it does not affect me, like, it does not matter. I think as long as you’re happy, that should be the main thing.”
Abs also put some other misconception to bed after revealing that some people assume he is her ‘sugar daddy’ and pays for everything.
She explained: “People comment all the time like ‘sugar daddy’ or say he pays for everything which isn’t the case, we split. If he pays for something, I’ll buy something and we do split the bills.
“Just because you’re in an age gap relationship doesn’t mean that he pays for everything. With someone that might be the case which is completely fine, that’s their life, that’s why they want to do.
“Everyone is different and there are different circumstances and there are different situations for people, not everything is the same.
“He does buy me things but just as I buy him things.”
