A supermarket near Oasis’s huge homecoming gigs is hoping to beef up its profits by flogging a two foot wide lasagne in the band’s honour.

Asda has launched the monster meal in its café in its store in Pilsworth, Greater Manchester, ahead of the band’s gigs in nearby Heaton Park.

And fans can stop off and tuck into the lasagne — which is referenced in Oasis tune Digsy’s Dinner — on the way to the gig.

They will also get a free portion of strawberries and cream, which also features in the lyrics to the song, as part of the retail giant’s “Digsy’s Dinner Deal”.

An Asda spokesperson said: “Oasis mania is well and truly building ahead of the weekend gigs here in their hometown, so we wanted to create something truly memorable to mark this iconic moment.

“The giant Liam lasagna has been pulling in crowds, and fans are rolling with it to dig into our great value lasagne, strawberries and cream dinner deal.

“Whether enjoying it at our Pilsworth café or in the comfort of your own home, it’s a fun and flavoursome way to celebrate one of Oasis’s most unexpected hits.”

Digsy’s Dinner was an album track on the band’s 1994 release Definitely Maybe but has grown cult status among die hard fans.

So popular are the lyrics in the song, that Liam Gallagher has often simply wrote the word ‘lasagne’ on his social media channels to the delight of fans.

Liverpool musician Pete Deary claimed to have been the inspiration for the title after farting during a late night jam with the band and telling Noel: “And I said ‘guess what I had for my tea? It was lasagne.”

He told the Liverpool Echo: “Noel had ‘Digsy’s Dinner’ written but he didn’t have a title for it. It came from a fart, out of my a**e. And so it should, because it’s a f***ing s**t tune anyway.”

Fans can get their hands on the feast from July 11 – 13 July. Oasis will play the first of five nights at the venue on Friday, July 11.

It comes after rival retailer Aldi launched a limited edition Supernova champagne at its store in Prestwich, Greater Manchester.

More than 75,000 fans are expected each night as the band play their first gigs in hometown Manchester since their disastrous 2009 tour which saw the band split up.

The band kicked off their reunion tour in Cardiff last week and are set to play Wembley, Murrayfield and Croke Park before heading to North America.
