Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd is set to appear on the upcoming series of Celebrity Big Brother – here is all you need to know about his love life
Corrie’s Jack P Shepherd is swapping the cobbles for the Celebrity Big Brother house, putting his wedding plans on pause for a bit of reality TV drama.
The much-anticipated new series launches tonight with whispers of a glittering cast that includes chat show icon Trisha Goddard, pop star Chesney Hawkes and Walford’s very own Patsy Palmer. With a wedding to fund, the soap star who plays David Platt couldn’t resist the opportunity to cash in on the ITV reality gig.
Jack’s love life has been as turbulent off-screen as his Corrie character’s. He famously cheated on his ex-fiancée Lauren Shippey, mother of two of his kids, in 2010 and is said to have fathered another child during his affair with Sammy Milewski.
Before finding love with current flame Hanni Treweek, Jack and Lauren had been an item since 2002, sharing children Nyla and Reuben. Their romance hit the rocks in 2010 when Jack’s fling with sales exec Sammy led to a baby.
Despite their split, the pair reconciled, and Jack popped the question to Lauren with a £3,000 sparkler, issuing a public apology for any “hurt” inflicted upon his loved ones. At the time, he stated: “On Sunday, there were some articles printed about errors I have made in my private life,” reports the Mirror.
The Coronation Street star has opened up about his gratitude for a successful career on the cobbles, attributing his achievements to his family, ITV Granada, and his girlfriend Lauren and daughter Nyla. He expressed his appreciation saying: “Over the years, I have enjoyed a successful career with Coronation Street, and with this, I have experienced privileges that have exceeded my own expectations. The core ingredients to my success have come from the following areas; my family, ITV Granada, and specifically my girlfriend Lauren and daughter Nyla.”
However, he also issued an apology for personal mistakes, stating: “I would like to apologise to my family, for all the hurt and pain I have caused them, to ITV Granada for letting them down, and especially to Lauren and Nyla, who are the most important people in my life. I now need to concentrate on what is really important, my family and my career, as I have abused my position as an employee, partner and father, and for that I am deeply sorry.”
Despite the heartfelt sentiments, the reality tells a different story as the couple officially split in 2017 but vowed to remain friendly for their children. The actor, known for his role on Coronation Street, also has a son named Greyson with Sammy.
Although reports suggest he hasn’t met Greyson, he supports him financially after DNA tests confirmed he is the father. Tragically, Greyson suffers from an incurable genetic condition.
Hanni and Jack are reportedly tying the knot this summer, and insiders say they’re sparing no expense for their big day. “They are incredibly in love and want their day to really represent them as they celebrate with friends and family. Hanni is known for being very stylish and they’ve not skimped on things for the wedding to make sure it’s all perfect.”
Whispers suggest that Jack, who was rumoured to be raking in a cool £250,000 from his ITV soap gig, was tempted by the paycheck offered by a reality TV stint. The source spilled: “Jack makes good money but it’s no secret that the CBB money is a draw for anyone, especially if you are planning a big event.”
