ITV Emmerdale fans distracted as they spot major Coronation Street crossover

Emmerdale viewers were left gobsmacked after noticing a significant Coronation Street crossover.

In this week’s episodes, Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) was taken aback when she discovered she had won a cruise in a magazine competition. Brenda had entered the contest a few months back for herself and Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell), during their engagement.

As fans will remember, Brenda called it quits with Eric after discovering he had squandered all her savings on a bogus cryptocurrency scheme. Eric fell victim to the scam due to his Parkinson’s symptoms, leading Brenda to end their engagement.

However, Brenda received some uplifting news this week when she learned she had won a three-month luxury cruise around the world.

Her friend and cafe co-owner Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) stumbled upon Brenda’s name in a magazine, congratulating her on her win, reports Leicestershire Live.

After confirming that she could still claim the prize, Brenda told Nicola that she didn’t want to go because of her break up with Eric. The much-loved local also insisted she wanted to stay in the Dales to keep an eye on him.

Baffled by her decision to pass up such an opportunity, Nicola decided to try and secure tickets for herself and her husband, Jimmy (Nick Miles).

However, sharp-eyed fans were somewhat distracted during the scene as they noticed that the magazine from which Brenda had won the cruise was none other than Chit Chat.

Chit Chat, a fictitious magazine that has been a staple in ITV’s rival soap Coronation Street for years, made an unexpected appearance in Emmerdale.

In 2024, the character Bethany Platt, played by Lucy Fallon, was employed at the publication and notably sold a story about Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) and Ryan Connor’s (Ryan Prescott) acid attack scandal and subsequent affair to the magazine.

Fans were quick to spot the crossover, with one viewer posting on a Facebook fan page: “I just saw Nichola reading “Chit Chat! I thought it was a corrie thing.”

Another fan responded: “Yeah I saw that too!” A third chimed in with: “Did they borrow the chit chat mag from corrie? !” Another exclaimed: “No way! That’s incredible!”.
