Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing took on an epic running challenge for Comic Relief and raised more than £2 million, but he has revealed that it has left him feeling a bit sore
Jamie Laing has admitted his Comic Relief marathon challenge left him with a rather uncomfortable issue.
The former Made In Chelsea star took on an Ultra Marathon Man challenge, which saw him running 30 miles a day for five days straight. Before he started training, Jamie claimed he hadn’t run longer than three miles in one go but he completed the gruelling challenge, raising more than two million pounds.
However, it seems it took its toll as it’s left him with a chafed manhood – Jamie said he’s had to “Vaseline that up”. As he limped into the studio for Red Nose Day on Friday (March 21), Jamie confessed that his body felt “bad”.
He has now shared that his feet are in tatters after the run – and that he has a more intimate issue too. Jamie, 36, opened up in a video diary from the run that he shared on the Newlyweds podcast that he does with his wife Sophie Habboo.
“I had chafing on the worst part you can have chafing,” said Jamie, according to the Mirror. “On my [manhood] – there I said it – so I had to Vaseline that up!”
Jamie has also shared on Instagram that his feet are a little the worse for wear since he crossed the finishing line. Posting a snap of his bare feet looking swollen, he exclaimed: “No one warned me that this would happen…”
“My feet are so swollen!!!” said the star. “They’re battered and my toe nail is about to fall off. They look a little bit like Hobbit feet. One thing for sure they aren’t looking pretty.”
He added on his podcast: “My feet hurt. I’ve got blisters on my feet.”
Jamie set off on Monday, 17 March and finished on Friday, 21 March, having run 150 miles from London to Salford. After completing the journey he told how he had reached the point where he felt “broken”.
“I didn’t have anything left in me,” he confessed. “Something pulled me out. The last kilometre was the most euphoric thing I’ve ever had.”
Sophie has said that her hubby is her “hero” after he completed the challenge. “Your bravery, honesty, vulnerability and kindness are all things I see in you everyday but now everyone else gets to see that side of you too and I couldn’t be more proud,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Despite you telling me every day that you couldn’t do it, and despite every part of me wanting to tell you to stop, I knew you would complete it because once you put your mind to something you don’t give up, and you didn’t give up.”
She went on: “You said that you did this for all the people who suffer daily from mental health, who don’t believe in themselves, who don’t love themselves. Well, in your own words you have just proven that ‘you are stronger than you think, you are braver than you are and you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.’
“I love you so much and am forever proud of you.”
