Jimmy Carr admits he’s ‘gone a bit crazy’ with plastic surgery in midlife crisis

The 52-year-old comedian has spent 12 weeks in a clinic to get a new set of teeth and has also undergone a hair transplant, but he thinks he has actually ‘gone a bit crazy’ with the work he has done

Jimmy Carr has opened up about his “proper midlife crisis” admitting that he’s splashed out on plastic surgery.

He previously said he went “crazy” with injectables, so much so that he joked “very little” remained of his original face. But Jimmy has been very open about surgery, even confessing one op his doctor would not do.

The 52-year-old funnyman took a 12-week retreat in a clinic to get a shiny new set of teeth and didn’t stop there — he’s also had a hair transplant.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Jimmy confessed: “I’ve got the new teeth and the new hair – I’ve had a proper midlife crisis.”

He added with a laugh: “Like, ‘Right, let’s get everything done.”

Not content with just a dazzling smile and luscious locks, the 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown presenter has also dabbled in anti-wrinkle injections, a popular treatment to temporarily enhance appearance and diminish signs of ageing. Jimmy likened keeping up his appearance to the never-ending task of painting Scotland’s Forth Bridge, quipping: “Christ, I’m like the Forth Bridge – it never stops.”

He mused on the effectiveness of cosmetic procedures, saying: “Maintaining is the thing – I don’t think there’s anything you can do plastic surgery wise or augmentation wise, that makes you look better, you can just stay the same, that’s what you can hope for.”

Meanwhile, Carr is hosting the new six-part Amazon Prime Series Last One Laughing UK, which throws comedians like Joe Lycett, Judi Love, and Daisy May Cooper into a house where they must try not to laugh. A yellow card awaits those who crack a smile, and a red card for a second slip-up.

When asked if he’d participate, Jimmy joked: “I think, technically, the amount of Botox I’ve had is cheating.”

The first four episodes are set to drop on March 20, with the final two instalments hitting Prime Video on March 27.

Jimmy couldn’t contain his excitement about hosting Last One Laughing UK on Prime Video, saying: “I’m thrilled to be making Last One Laughing UK with Prime Video.”

He cheekily added: “It’s sure to deliver and if it doesn’t, it will leave the fun with your neighbours. Usually, when I make a TV show with 10 brilliant comics, I’m expecting everyone to have a bloody good laugh – but not in this series.

“The last one laughing wins. It’s a great format and it’s been a huge hit around the world. I can’t wait to see who cracks up first.”
