Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon invited cameras into their lives for a BBC reality show, with viewers seeing the highs and lows of their family life
Ex-EastEnders icon Joe Swash has opened up about how he and Stacey Solomon make their married life work. The telly duo showed fans the highs and lows of their life on their BBC reality show Stacey & Joe this year.
Viewers saw the ins and outs of how they made things work at their picturesque home Pickle Cottage. The series showed how they manage their work and time with their kids – and the difficulties that came with it.
But now, Joe has opened up about what they do to make the most of it, admitting “what’s the point” if they didn’t.
The former King of the Jungle said the couple was “so excited” for the summer holidays so they could spend time with their brood. He told OK!: “We spend so much of the year with the kids going to school, the clubs, me and Stacey working, so we always take a chunk of time off for the summer holidays.
“It’s our way of reconnecting as a family. Those holidays are really important to us.”
He explained that he and Stacey try and make sure their work calendars line up so they can enjoy some time off together. “What’s the point in working all year if you can’t get a chunk of time off together?” he said.
The actor continued: “We know once the summer’s gone they’re back to school, another school year older, so we want to make the most of it.”
Joe and Stacey, who got married in 2022, have three young children together. They welcomed son Rex in 2019, daughter Rose in 2021 and daughter Belle in 2023.
Stacey also has two sons from past relationships – eldest son Zachary, born in 2008, and Leighton, born in 2012. They all appeared in Stacey & Joe, with the oldest boys speaking of what it’s like in their house.
Meanwhile, Joe also has a son from a past relationship, Harry. However Harry did not appear in the series.
Joe keeps Harry out of the spotlight, but last year said he was doing work experience at a talent agency.
