Joel Dommett ‘faints’ during gruelling London Marathon as he’s wheeled away in ambulance

Comedian and The Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett fainted during the London Marathon on Sunday after collapsing during the gruelling race – but still managed to finish

Joel Dommett has announced that he passed out and found himself in an ambulance during his attempt to complete the 2025 London Marathon.

The host of The Masked Singer was among the many tackling the famed race across London today. Before setting off, Joel had a packed schedule, planning to do stand-up in Leeds on Saturday night, then dash back to London for the marathon on Sunday morning. Beforehand, he revealed that his goal was to finish the run in under three hours and had been training hard. He even added that he wanted to treat himself to an ice bath after.

The TV favourite also reveals that he had plans to shoot a project on Sunday evening. However, his tightly-packed day was disrupted mid-marathon.

Concerns arose amongst his followers when they noticed his tracking status froze after mile 15, reports the Mirror.

Later, the man behind the mask on The Masked Singer took to Instagram to share his ordeal, revealing that despite fainting at mile 17, he somehow managed to finish the race. Pushing through after the scare, Joel posted: “Not the race I expected! I fainted at mile 17 – don’t really remember much but I woke up in an ambulance!”.

He expressed his gratitude, saying: “Thanks to Frankie and Barry for being amazing. I really wanted to finish it. After a few hours my pulse was back and I got going again at a very different pace but really got to soak it all in. Proud of myself for finishing.”

Earlier on, photos had captured Joel getting a helping hand from two friends as he battled through the Canary Wharf section of the marathon. More photos caught him grimacing in pain as he made it past the finish line.

Joel triumphantly completed the marathon with a time of 6 hours, 3 minutes and 27 seconds. He was snapped at the finish line clutching his medal and beaming with joy, although he seemed to grimace as he left the marathon behind.

Before the big day, Joel had called on his supporters to back his chosen charity.

On his fundraising page, he penned: “I am challenging myself to run a sub 3 hour London Marathon this year before I reach 40 years old (eeeek! ). I’m doing it to raise vital funds and awareness of Brain Tumour Support.”

He continued, shedding light on the cause: “[Brain Tumour Support is] a charity close to our family’s hearts after they supported my wife Hannah following her mum’s brain tumour diagnosis. Anything you can donate will be so appreciated, thank you so much.”

In the lead-up to the race, Joel posted a pic with McFly’s drummer Harry Judd, both prepped to take on the challenge. The host shared: “HERE WE GOOOO! Pleasure to run with this dude @harryjudd.”

After crossing the finish line, Joel was flooded with supportive messages from his fans. One admirer posted: “Sorry your race didn’t go to plan, hope you still make the schedule and get to your gig!”.

‘This Morning’ presenter Ben Shephard cheered him on, saying: “What a challenge and awesome you got back up and finished!!” Meanwhile, TV personality Nicky Chapman praised him: “But you did it! ! Well done for finishing and now take it easy.”
