Surprise new LP from Justin Bieber addresses personal life and sets up a major pop comeback later in the year
AFTER a four year hiatus Justin Bieber has got his Swag back.
That’s the title of his surprise new LP which dropped Friday, featuring some of his most personal work yet.
Introspection and self reflection are the overwhelming themes behind the 20 track LP which sports guest appearances by Mk.gee, Gunna, Sexyy Red and Cash Cobain. It marks Bieber’s first release since 2021’s Justice.
Tunes All I Can Take, Dadz Love and Therapy Session clearly reflect on major moments in his life dealing with press intrusion, his devotion as a husband Hailey and new father to baby Jack.
Justin’s life has been under the microscope from the world’s media who accused him of having marriage and drug problems of late, and he hints at relationship troubles on Walking Away but then finds joy in family life again in Things You Do. Family is clearly important judging by the artwork featuring a black-and-white image of him standing in front of Hailey while she carries baby Jack.
Musically, the fragmented samples and mellow vocals are underpinned by boomy bass on highlights such as Daisies, offering a more intimate, leftfield sound that’s a far cry from the shiny pop he made his name with as a teen.
However, Swag isn’t all that JB has to offer as he is using this release as a launched pad for a major pop comeback later this year, or early 2026, via another full album with more of the more usual bells and whistles on.
Swag marks a new era for Biebs who recently settled a long-standing financial dispute with ex manager Scooter Braun concerning a loan to cover costs for his Justice Tour, which ended early in 2022 after being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
Since then Justin has lived a largely reclusive existence focusing on family and friends, and has been onstage only a handful of times since, including a surprise appearance with SZA in May.
Will 2026 be the year he returns to the UK for a tour?
