Katie Price has opened up about her mum Amy’s health battle, after she underwent a lung transplant following a diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)
Katie Price has issued a health update on her mother.
The reality TV star’s mother Amy is battling idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Katie opened up about the struggles her family has been facing as Amy’s health sadly continues to deteriorate.
Amy, diagnosed with IPF in 2017, underwent a lung transplant in November 2022 in hopes of improving her condition. However, she revealed last year that her health was fluctuating, with good days and bad days and her condition was unpredictable.
Katie discussed her mother’s ongoing challenges on a recent episode of The Katie Price Show, which she co-hosts with her sister Sophie. Speaking to her mum, who was also part of the podcast, Katie said: “I do feel you for you mum, because people have to understand what my mum’s gone through, like her brain is just so active and still switched on.”
“She can’t do the things that she used to do, which is frustrating for her.” The former glamour model continued: “”Now here’s an example, because I am a patient person but when my mother teases me and says let’s go look at the shops in Isle of Wight, shall I take my walker or wheelchair and I’m like: ‘No, we’re taking your wheelchair because I’m not taking an hour’.
Amy, speaking up for herself, responded: “It’s not doing me any good because I’m meant to walk to help myself.” Katie also hinted that Amy might attend the Isle of Wight Festival this year. Amy added: “I hopefully should be walking,” reports the Mirror.
Earlier this year, Katie opened up about her concerns regarding vaping, although she’s never been a smoker. On Snapchat, the 46 year old celeb revealed she was heading to London for a lung scan, admitting to her followers that she was “nervous” about it.
Katie kept her fans updated with snaps and clips from the clinic as she went through various tests. Later, she happily reported: “So I thought I’d give an update about yesterday when I went and had my lungs checked. Obviously I had them checked because my mum had a lung transplant, and to see if it’s genetic and to see if vaping has affected my lungs or anything like that.”
“But my lungs are absolutely perfect, nothing wrong with them, and he gave me advice how to get off the vapes. So I’m starting to wean myself off the vapes. But yeah it’s all good news, they’re all working well and they’re really good lungs, especially for my age. So all good! I’m all healthy!”
