ITV have made huge changes to its Daytime schedule that will affect shows such as Good Morning Britain, Loose Women and Lorraine.
Fans of Lorraine Kelly’s ITV chat show will be gutted to hear that the show is getting the brunt of the broadcaster’s Daytime cuts. It comes after legendary broadcaster recently revealed she was in hospital getting keyhole surgery – to get her ovaries and tubes taken out.
From January 2026, Lorraine and Loose Women will air for just over half of the year (30 weeks), and Lorraine’s runtime has been cut by 30 minutes. However, Good Morning Britain has been extended by 30 minutes as it will run from 6am until 9.30am – up from its current slot of 6am until 9am.
Lorraine Kelly’s show will now run on weekdays from 9.30am until 10am on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year, instead of its current 9am to 10am slot. GMB will take Lorraine’s slot for the 22 weeks that it’s not on air, meaning it will air from 6am until 10am.

This Morning hasn’t been affected by the changes and will still air from 10am 12.30pm on weekdays throughout the year, and Loose Women will stay in its usual 12.30-1.30pm slot. However, like Lorraine, it will now air for just 30 weeks of the year – the schedule it occupied for over a decade until 2016.
GMB will be produced by a dedicated team within ITV News at ITN – a change that ITV say will bring all of its news gathering “into one hub”. The broadcaster believes this will benefit GMB as it can use the resources already in place for the broadcaster’s national news bulletins and for digital platforms such as ITVX.
ITV’s Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women will still be produced by ITV Studios but the programmes are being broadcast from another location in central London.
ITV have confirmed that these cuts to Daytime shows will allow them to save money. The broadcaster explained they aim to use these savings to reiinvest in other types of ITV programmes such as dramas and sporting coverage.

Explaining the shake up, Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV’s Media and Entertainment Division, said: “Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.
“These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever.”
He added: “I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off screen in our Daytime production teams, and we will work with ITV Studios and ITN as they manage these changes to produce the shows differently from next year, and support them through this transition.
“Daytime has been a core element of ITV’s schedule for over 40 years and these changes will set ITV up to continue to bring viewers award winning news, views and discussion as we enter our eighth decade.”
ITV added: “The change will form part of a renewed agreement between ITV and ITN, for ITN to produce national, international, London and digital news for ITV for the next five years, with options to extend.”
