Lorraine Kelly had viewers in stitches when she accidentally blurted out a cheeky word on Good Morning Britain. Chatting with co-hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, the 64-year-old presenter was hyping up the celebs lined up for her chat show on Monday, March 10, when the naughty term made an unexpected appearance.
Excited about Poirot actor Sir David Suchet’s visit, Lorraine said: “Sir David Suchet is coming in and i just wondered, you know what he makes…. and what Poirot would have made of (Towards) Zero the new Agatha Christie, it’s called Sh*****a Christie apparently.”
Shocked by the slip-up, Susanna hastily chipped in with a “I beg your pardon,” clearly taken aback by the language, especially at that hour. Clueless about her faux pas, a bewildered Lorraine asked: “Am I allowed to say that?” to which Ed replied, rather bluntly: “No.”
Unfazed, the Scottish telly legend hit back: “Well I just have,” before quickly adding: “Anyway, I apologise for apologising and I’ll apologise again for myself.”
Trying to brush over the gaffe and get back on track, Lorraine continued of the new BBC drama: “Anyway, it’s raunchy, Agatha Christie is raunchy which I don’t really think that you need but we’ll find out what David thinks,” reports the Manchester Evening News.
A still skeptical Susanna only managed an “Ok” while Lorraine wrapped up with a chuckling: “Sorry about that,” to the viewers at home.
Ed tried to lighten the mood by saying: “No, you’ve livened it up.”
Yet Susanna couldn’t resist teasing during the exchange saying: “At the weekend Lorraine was asked what she’s really like in a newspaper interview and she said she’s ‘exactly like Lorraine but only more sweary’.”
Emphasising the contradiction, Susanna quipped: “But you’ve decided to be a bit more raunchy on-air,” to which Lorraine responded defensively: “But that’s not me, that was everybody that was saying that.”
Good Morning Britain is on ITV1 weekdays at 6am and on ITVX
