Love Island star Jess Spencer has said her “heart is completely broken” as she paid a touching tribute to her best friend Estera, who has sadly died from cancer
Love Island star Jess Spencer has announced the heartbreaking death of a loved one.
The reality star appeared on last year’s summer series of the ITV show, where she found a spark with Ayo Odukoya. The pair made it to the final and finished fourth, but it wasn’t to be as they split after leaving the villa.
Jess has now shared the devastating news that her best friend Estera has passed away after fighting cancer for five years. She took to Instagram to share an emotional tribute to her pal, telling followers she was is “angry”, “unbelievably sad” and “completely broken” by the loss.
She posted a sweet black and white video of the two hugging. In the video, Estera was seen holding a bouquet of flowers while hugging Jess. Jess captioned her post: “If you had the pleasure of knowing Est you were so very lucky, she was strong and she was stubborn in all of the best ways.
“She fought 5 years of her life with cancer and you would never of even known. She was brave and showed up even on her worst days and she never let her illness affect living her best little life.
She continued: “Cancer is never something that affects you until it does, until it takes away someone you thought you would grow old with, someone you thought you would meet their kids and help plan their wedding, someone you can’t remember being without since the age of 11, my lifelong best friend, a pain like this is so unbearable.”
Jess said she is “so proud of her” friend’s strength and added: “She deserved a life full of abundance, and it hurts me beyond words that her story ended here… “She said: “I always said that I’d be lost without her and that’s exactly how it feels. What a beautiful soul and a blessing to of had her in my life.
“I feel so lucky that I got to experience a friendship so deep, a bond so unbreakable that my heart aches and my world will never be the same. My forever sidekick and the worst but best influence to each other. There will never be enough memories with you, and I would do anything for more time and one last cuddle.”
The TV personality revealed she travelled to Poland to be with Estera’s family and their close friends, declaring it was “so special” before writing how she “knew” Estera was “with them the whole time”.
She wrote: “We all miss you so much Est. You are so loved and admired. Our real life angel in the sky, I’m desperate to laugh and dance with you again. Forever in my heart and always on my mind. Forever together.”
Her friends rushed to the comments to pay their respects, with fellow Love Island star Grace Jackson writing: “Jess. I’m sending all my love to you, so sorry to hear this,” and villa alum Matilda Draper posting: “Sending you so much love and praying for you.”
Whitney Adebayo wrote: “Sorry for your loss Jess, sending my love.” Jessy Potts, Swedish influencer Jamilla Strand, Jess Harding and Summer Botwe also offered their support.
Faye Winter commented: “Sending you all the love in world, a friendship like this will last a lifetime. It will be the friendship that every time something good or bad happens you’ll wish they were with you, in that moment know that they are who you think of because they are right there beside you.”
Jess later shared a snap of her with friends as they stood by a lake in Poland looking out into the water. “Closer to you than ever,” she captioned the post. The star posted a black-and-white photo of her with Estera and a few more friends as they walked down the road.
“Forever attached to each other,” she wrote. “Death has taken so much from us. It has stolen our conversations, laughter, trips, silence, plans, moments and time. But it can’t take you from our memories and our dream that is the place we will always go to find you.”
