Love Island’s Alex Bowen opens up about tragic loss after ‘devastating’ pregnancy news

EXCLUSIVE: Love Island star Alex Bowen has opened up about his and his wife Olivia Bowen’s tragic loss after the Islander lost one of her twins during her second pregnancy

Love Island star Alex Bowen and Olivia were dealt some “devastating” pregnancy news that rocked the couple.

The pair, 33 and 31, who met on series two of Love Island, received some heartbreaking news earlier this year after they found out Olivia had lost one of her twins during her pregnancy.

Talking to Daily Star, Alex commented: “When we found out we were having twins, it was such a huge shock, but we were feeling super positive and happy and had already started building up scenarios in our minds, like picturing all three kids together in the back of the car.

“When we were told we had unfortunately lost one, it was so devastating and a really hard time for us. However, we’re now putting all of our focus on Abel and our little girl and keeping her safe and healthy; that’s our main priority.”

Unfortunately, this wasn’t the only heart-wrenching loss the fitness pro had dealt with after losing one of his closest friends a few years ago.

Alex shared: “I lost my friend a few years ago now, and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through.

“It really encouraged me to use my platform in a different way and to spread awareness on the importance of men’s mental health.

“Loss is a strange thing – it’s so important to open up and speak about it, and to get things off of your chest.

“I’ve got a challenge coming up that I’m going to announce very soon and it’s for The Samaritans who are an amazing charity.

“It’s going to be fitness focussed and I’m so excited for it to come to fruition this summer, and to hopefully make a big difference and highlight the amazing work they’re currently doing.”

Alex is also excited to continue focusing on his fitness business, after launching Pure 45 in November last year.

He added: “I launched Pure 45 in November; I’ve done online coaching in the past, but to do it again now and to help so many people is amazing.

“I’m really trying to build a community where people feel they can talk through their training and can feel supported both mentally and physically.

“I want to create a hub that feels like a safe space for people to open up, especially as I know that can be hard for men to do sometimes.”

Alongside becoming a dad again, Alex is set for a belter of a year, and can’t wait to welcome his new daughter to the world.

Alex said: “I’m super excited to become a dad again! Obviously, it’s not like the first time around when you have no clue what’s in store, and it’s going to be quite challenging while also having a toddler running around, but I know we’re going to love it.

“I’m so ready for the new challenge and I’m buzzing that it’s a little girl. It’s going to be a new kind of love and I’m so excited to experience that.”
