‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ have both hit a snag in their release schedules.

Disney has confirmed that the eagerly-awaited Marvel Studios blockbusters have been postponed, with ‘Doomsday’ now slated for a cinematic debut on December 18 2026.

The star-studded film, boasting a cast including Pedro Pascal, Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Letitia Wright and Paul Rudd, was originally set to grace the silver screen on May 1, 2026.

This knock-on effect of Doomsday’s delay means Secret Wars has also been bumped back.

The flick is now due to roll out on December 17 2027, having initially been pencilled in forMay 7 2027.

In addition, Disney has axed several Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films from its upcoming roster.

An ‘Untitled Marvel’ project, previously marked for February 13 2026, has been scrapped, while other ‘Untitled Marvel’ films, expected to land on November 6 2026 and November 5 2027, have been switched to ‘Untitled Disney’ features.

Consequently, ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ are the sole Marvel offerings left on next year’s slate.

Earlier this month, Alan Cumming dropped a hint that he’ll be squaring off against Pascal in Avengers: Doomsday.

The seasoned 60-year-old actor is lined up to reprise his mutant Nightcrawler role from X2: X-Men United in the forthcoming MCU extravaganza, and he teased a potential showdown with Pascal’s Mr. Fantastic in Avengers: Doomsday.

Cumming expressed his amusement at reprising his role as Nightcrawler in the forthcoming film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ during an interview with Buzzfeed UK.

Laughing, the actor added: “I was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I just think, I’m 60 years old. 23 years ago, I played that superhero.”

“I was kind of old for a superhero even then. And now I’m back doing it. And that, to me, is hilarious.

“I’m sort of learning these fights and I’m like, ‘What? Who am I fighting with?’ And they said, ‘You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,’ or something.”

Cumming recently admitted he was “amazed and excited” to be returning as Nightcrawler for Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently filming in London.
