Love Island royalty Maura Higgins has claimed she “doesn’t have a great track record” when it comes to the men in her life.
Newly-single Maura has recently hit the headlines after being filmed sharing a ‘drunken kiss’ with McFly star Danny Jones at a BRITs after party. So, we took a look back at what she’s said about her past relationships before.
Speaking with Paul C Brunson’s on his We Need To Talk podcast in December, Maura shared: “I think men and women whether it’s a friendship or a partnership, I think they complete each other, like that’s how I feel about it. I don’t know, I get on so well with men as friends, not as partners.
“I mean, I’ve not had a great track record in relationships.” Before adding later in the conversation: “I just feel like apart from my best friend, every guy has just let me down. I expect to be let down and you can never be in a healthy relationship if I’m expecting that.”
Maura has had a few relationships in the public eye, including romances with Love Island stars Curtis Pritchard and Chris Taylor, Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice and most recently TOWIE alum Pete Wicks.
Maura has recently been in the press after the footage of her ‘kissing’ married McFly star Danny Jones was released by The Sun, after a source captured them close to one another at Universal’s after party.

The expert explained: “Danny and Maura’s kisses wouldn’t really register as notable for either of them. Whether drunk or sober, the kisses appear meaningless from a romantic standpoint.
“Danny stands in a confident position during the brief moment when we see them kissing – he’s got his hands in his pockets in a chilled-out, secure stance, with his feet a little way apart. This is the pose of a man enjoying the adoration of a fan, not a loverboy trying to ravish a lady. He’s not even leaning towards her. He’s not reaching out to hold her.
“Maura’s hands never embrace him – she appears to peck him on the cheek initially, snowing affection like kissing a younger cousin.
“She then leans in for another kiss, and Danny turns his head sideways, more receptive to this peck. Their lips meet, but they’re still not touching with the rest of their bodies, not hugging, not leaning on each other; there’s nothing sensual between them.”
She added: “They do appear to be locking lips, but the fact that their arms, legs, and torsos do not meet suggests that there is less to that kiss than meets the eye.
“In fact, from the little we can see in the dark, Maura’s head recoils from the kiss, as if they bumped into each other. Her head bounces back after kissing Danny, which is odd. The recoiling tells us that Maura’s face wasn’t sticking around for another kiss.”
